Official CBS Star Trek Credit Cards Will Be Launched In September + Details On The Cards

Announcement

The NASA Federal Credit Union has announced that they will issue official Star Trek credit cards under license by CBS consumer products starting in September. There are four different cards that consumers will be able to choose from: Starfleet Academy Alumni, Starfleet Command, United Federation of Planets, and the Captain’s Card, the only thing different between these cards is the design. Really they are all a variation of a ‘Star Trek Platinum Advantage Rewards Credit Card’.

Our Thoughts

I hate bonuses that are “first X,XXX people only”, especially when it’s not clear if you’re within that number or not before applying,  I also dislike not being able to see what the rewards can be redeemed for before signing up. Obviously the cards haven’t been launched yet, so NASA FCU/Star Trek/CBS still have time to possibly fix these issues. Either way the bonus is relatively low and the earning rates aren’t at all interesting unless you spend a lot at Startrek.com, it’s possible to get more than 2% cash back on all purchases and up to 5% cash back on gas purchases for example.

I think this card will really only appeal to true die hard Star Trek fans that want to show off their inner fangirl/fanboy and possibly redeem their rewards for the exclusive rewards and experiences.

Seems you can only have this card if you are American or live in America. How narrow minded!!

Who cares if you’re not within the first 1000 to sign up… it has the Federation logo on it! That makes it like the Centurion Card of American Express! My only question is whether you have to apply for four accounts to get all four card designs. If not, I am going to have to adopt a dog to add as an authorized user since we are only a family of three!

The federation doesn’t use money, I guess that’s why this card is useless.

The Klingon credit card is a baseball bat.

It would be illogical to get this card.
