PNC has extended their $300 checking bonus until September 30th, 2016. It requires a direct deposit of $5,000 to get the full $300 bonus, but if you can’t manage then their are lower tiers available with smaller bonuses. One of the nice things about this bonus is that you can fund up to $2,000 initially with a credit card. We also already have datapoints that the Chase Sapphire Reserve code as a purchase – so this is a relatively easy way to knock out $2,000 in spend and also receive a $300 bonus. This bonus is also one of the bonuses on our best bank account bonus list, check if out if you haven’t already.

I live in Virginia. I can’t open the account online. I wonder if you have to live near a branch.
can you fund the $2000 if opened in branch? Im guessing no cause they usually run those on cash advance machines. I’ve only had luck funding accounts with credit card when opened online
In-branch credit card funding is coded as cash advance. For online, it depends on the credit card you use.
So, if I fund the initial 2k with a credit card will that satisfy the 2k direct deposit requirement without any additional deposits?
Thanks
