    • Travel Rewards: 1x mile per $1 spent:
      • 25,000 miles = air ticket worth up to $315, then you must redeem in increments of 5,000 miles = $50

Our Verdict

Ok, so the actual card sucks and there is absolutely no reason why you’d want it after getting the sign up bonus. Annual fee of up to $500 is ridiculous considering it comes with no real benefits (wow you get to control employee spending and you can add your logo for another $350. Are you kidding me?).

Best card is the one that offers 1.5% cash back. If you spent the $15,000 required for the bonus you’d earn:

  • $225 in cash back
  • $400 from the sign up bonus

Means you’ll be earning at around 4.16% for that $15,000 in spend. Not that bad, but not that great either. I can see this as being useful for somebody that has high spend and it’s certainly better than their crappy 50,000 point personal bonus but for the majority of people there are much better options out there.

So, how does it compare? Wouldn’t this be a pretty good deal paired with Simon Mall? Also, does it show up on personal CR? If not, it’d be perfect to churn and burn!

1.5x on 15k is 225. Let’s say you split the 400 bonus into a 200 bonus, plus 200 cashback; then you get 2.8333% cashback for the purchases, plus 200 bonus for the ding. Comparing with a 150 bonus, you’d be getting 3.1666% (475/15k), plus the 150 bonus.

Seems like a pretty good deal!

Anyone know if it’s really limited to the states in the title? I thought the credit card portfolio is almost always nationwide.

Also, if you go 1.5% route, do they still give you a reasonable grace period to pay off the balance?

Oh, wait, they don’t actually want anyone to apply for it? Only a contact form and a phone number; wasting time talking to bankers doesn’t really sound like a good deal for just a couple of points.

I’m actually thinking of getting this. I’ve run out of options for bonus spending due to the number of new cards I got last year. The only new bonuses I’ve been able to get were the “no-24 month” cards posted by DoC over the past few months.

A lot of my spending is with a supplier that isn’t in any bonus category, so the best I can do is 2% on Spark Cash or Arrival+. Putting $15k on this card and getting a net 4.17% return is more than double that. Plus, I can add a data point about how willing they are to waive the $500 annual fee next year, since there’s no way I’d spend more than $15,001 on this.

The only card PNC has that is worth anything is the PNC Premier Traveler, which is slightly better than the Arrival+ due to no minimum award credit.

This is horrendous. I forbid any of you from applying for this (Kevin O’Leary voice)

I guess PNC doesn’t really want much business from the biz sector. $500 for 15k is (as charles would say) tuuuurrrrible
