Direct link to offer

purse

What Is Purse?

Purse lets you buy items on Amazon.com using bitcoin, you’ll also receive a discount. For example all items that are buy now give you a 5% instant discount. You can also create a wish list and name your price.

The Fine Print

  • Valid until August 26th, 2016
  • You are unable to withdraw the bitcoin from the promotion from your account, you’ll have to spend it :). This will ensure users learn how to shop with bitcoin on Purse. You will receive your free bitcoin once you’ve verified your email address

Our Verdict

You need to order at least $10 as well, it also seems like Amazon gift cards (and other gift cards?) are excluded from purchasing. I’d be a bit weary of purchasing gift cards in general and also the name your price feature, as there a lot of reports of fraud online. If anybody has used purse before and wants to share their experiences, please do so in the comments below.

It seems kind of messed up that they’re not fulfilling the terms of the promotion – for those of us like me who signed up on the last day (8/26) in the morning while it was still active. Anyone have any luck?

I signed up this morning and also have not been credited the $10. Verified my .edu email and everything. Not sure if this is dead or not…

Edit: It appears the third party does not even get your address, since Amazon already has that. So, I suppose the only scam angle is the scammer using a stolen cc to try to cash out into bitcoin, which it hardly seems you would be in any way responsible for.

I’ve used purse.io about 10-15 times over the years. Sometimes orders were canceled, but I’ve never been scammed. In fact, I don’t really get how the scam would play out since you have to confirm the delivery of the items before your BTC are released to the buyer. I even used to use it for physical WF GC. My fear and the reason why I stopped is that you are giving some stranger your name and address. But if you use the standard 5% purse discount, then I think it’s going through purse, not a third party buyer. All that said, the early version of this deal offered 35$ in BTC, which I took advantage of.
