Recap: Higher Default Rates, Home Depot Lawsuit Against Visa & Mastercard, And More!

  • Higher Credit Card Default Rates? One Bank Reported Some Very Troubling News! by Miles to Memories. Keep in mind that Synchrony issue a lot of sub prime cards to sub primer cardholders, so not surprising to see an increase in their default rates considering the record lows they have been sitting out. This could be a sign of things to come for cardholders/issuers that are prime, but too early to tell.
  • Home Depot Files Antitrust Lawsuit Against Visa, MasterCard by Wall Street Journal. This is pretty big if true, chip & PIN would greatly diminish fraud rates here if opted. I didn’t realize that it made such a difference in the interchange fees that payment networks and card issuers were able to charge as well. This carries on from other allegations made previously by Home Depot and a number of other retailers.

@anthonyjh21

Just do a Google search for the headline that comes up and click on the article in the Google results, it will get you past their paywall.

Thanks, will do next time. Didn’t know there was a work-around for these paid articles.

I usually:

1. Right click the link.
2. Copy link address.
3. Go to google.
4. Paste.

It saves a few seconds.
