Recap: Smart Explorer, Uber’s Driverless Cars, $4,000 Mistake & More

  • My $4000 Travel Hacking Mistake by Chasing The Points. Ouch! There are actually a few services popping up that’ll semi automate this process for a small fee ($15-$20 from what I’ve seen). Can’t remember the names off the top of my head, but could be useful if you can’t find any cheap flights yourself and don’t want to try to work out what’s refundable.
  • Amex Took 200K Membership Rewards Points from Us, and My Plans to Get Them Back by Miles For Family. Don’t try to do a product change to avoid the annual fee! Best of luck to Leana!

AMEX 200k is overly aggressive. Its not within the TC as I understand about “too early” PC. However, we dont know the whole story. People think MS would be the only reason. Not true. All “abusive” behavior count. If you are a churner, your profile makes it very clear what your behavior is after you get a CC. So maybe AMEX saw a history? Who knows. All I know is AMEX is busting out the beat down stick and I would be very interested to see how these AMEX rumors pan out. Also curious how Chase handles CSR players as well. 5/24 is just the beginning. Nothing is free.
