- Getting a Tourist Visa for Venezuela by Travel Codex. I’d love to hear from readers that have been to Venezuela recently, I had some plans to go back in 2013 and then Hugo Chavez died just before I left so I changed my plans.
- Increase your points balance with Shopping Portals! by Tagging Miles. I use shopping portals as a gateway drug to this hobby for friends & family. It works exceptional well as they are really easy to understand and everybody shops online these days. Once they understand that it’s easier to get them into category bonuses and sign up bonuses in general.
- 15,000 Free Hyatt Points for Taking a Hyatt Residence Club Maui Tour by Mommy Points. I’d really love if a site specialized in nothing but these offers (maybe something similar to Status Matcher). I know one blog was trying to do this, but doesn’t look very active. When it comes to time shares, if you’re actually interested buying your points on the second hand market is the way to go.
- Amazing United Bonus Offer With Up To 260K Miles Offer For NYC Area (Targeted) by Danny Deal Guru. Fingers crossed you got something good.
Venezuela was even dangerous BEFORE Chavez! I’ve traveled all over Latin America and, except for El Salvador, I was never more concerned for my safety than on my one pre-Chavez trip to Venezuela. My advice: go elsewhere, it’s a big world.
Wow, I would have never expected anyone to want to visit a dangerous country like Venezuela. I haven’t been there since 2002. I thought the situation was dangerous then. I have been looking at hiking Bolivar Peak, whitewater rafting near the andes mountains. Etc. The reports from the few people left there it has become a free for all with kidnapings and murders a common occurrence.
My hope is for the situation to improve to return.
This sounded like some weird anti-Venezuelan propaganda, but it’s true, Caracas has the world’s highest murder rate, thanks to the economic collapse. More than 20% of murders in Latin America are in Venezuela.
It’s not anti-Venezuelan propaganda. Venezuela is one of dangerous countries in the continent and Caracas is among the top cities in terms of murder (very close to San Pedro Sula in Honduras), people earning minimum wage is practically starving unless they can get subsidized food directly distributed by the central government after making several hours lines, it’s like a war economy without any war.
I would never recommend anyone traveling to Venezuela if you don’t have to. If you still insist on doing it and don’t mind the risk then please find a Venezuelan willing to help you step by step there, avoid Caracas if you can specially if you don’t speak fluent spanish.
