TD Credit Cards
We’ve written before about a few different credit card offerings from TD Bank.
- TD Easy Rewards and TD Cash Rewards. This card offers 5% back on select categories for the first 6-months. And for a few more days there is a $200 signup bonus, an offer which comes and goes.
- TD First Class Visa Credit Card. This card offers a $250 Cash Signup Bonus, plus 3% Â on dining & travel.
- TD Aeroplan Visa Credit Card. This card offers a 25,000 Aeroplan miles signup bonus.
- TD also is the issuer of the Target credit card and they’ll soon be issuing the Nordstrom credit card.
Geographic Availability
The TD Aeroplan card and the store cards are available all over the USA. The TD Rewards cards and the First Class card are only available in the following states:Â Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, D.C.
Non-Customers
Previously, the TD Rewards and First Class cards were only available to existing TD customers, which made it necessary to first open a checking or savings account with TD before applying for the card. This has now changed and they are clearly accepting applications from everyone in the geographic areas, even those who are not existing customers. (Link)
We don’t know for sure that they’ll actually approve those who aren’t existing customers, but we have no reason to believe they won’t; if they decided to start accepting applications from them, we assume that they’ll be willing to approve those applications as well.
Final Thoughts
Since the Rewards cards and the First Class cards are now available for non-relationship customers, it makes them more palatable.
The First Class card is interesting for its $250 cash signup bonus especially, and it also offers 3% cashback on dining and travel.
TD Rewards is offering a $200 signup bonus only until the end of May, although the offer comes and goes. The other big benefit of the TD Rewards is the 5% rewards on gas and grocery for 6-months. Bear in mind, however, that this card is not useful for manufacturing spend since they started recently limited/closing accounts of those who attempt to do so. Still, you should be able to get a nice value out of the card with $200 + regular grocery and gas spend.

TD recently mailed me this credit card offer(the $200 bonus plus 5% on categories for 6 months). I have never had a TD account. I applied for the card, and was approved.
So, you do not need a TD account to get these credit cards.
They sent me the same offer.
I applied online to one letter and they said a response would be mailed in 7-10 days, however, they sent an email saying it was approved.
Another solicitation came in today’s mail for the same card, so I will try again.
