Six Flags/Discover Not Renewing Partnership For 2017 Season

Discover have had a partnership with Six Flags since 2009. I wasn’t sure if the Six Flags/Discover partnership was being renewed for 2017 given that the webpage still states it’s valid until 12/31/2016. Several readers (here & via e-mail) that work at Six Flags have reached out to let us know that this partnership has ended and will not be renewed for the 2017 season.

In addition to this Six Flags does not have an official credit card partner that will provide the same/similar benefits to cardholders. This won’t be a huge blow for most people, but the benefits were useful to some. With things like 5% cash back, dedicated entry lane, ride time events & food deals. You can view a full list of the previous benefits here. I’m surprised that Six Flags haven’t made a deal with another card issuer, as I imagine this could bring in significant revenue for them. Maybe they want a dedicated co-branded card instead of benefits for an existing card?

They did have a Six Flags card a number of years ago, I think it was a Master card but I’m not sure. I always used my Discover when I visited Six Flags and my AAA card and my season pass and saved a lot of money in the end! I hope they join up again.

Wow this sucks. Was on the fence about renewing this year and a Discover card still in part of the DCB year was pretty enticing. Their loss.

About a year ago Six Flags sent out an exhaustive survey about getting their own cobrand card. I wouldn’t be surprised if this was the plan. I had assumed they’d work with Discover, but we’ll see.

I always filed that benefit under “something I hope to take advantage of some day but will most likely forget about whenever I actually do go to a Six Flags”

Which I’m guessing is why it wasn’t renewed.

Had 10% off all year there in 2016. It definitely was a factor in getting season passes.
