Southwest Signup Bonus 50,000 Points, Discover Signup Bonus $150

Both of these offers are things which we’ve seen before, but are not always available.

Southwest Signup Bonus

Direct Link for business card

[Note: the direct link is for the Premier version which has a higher annual fee than the Plus version. I can’t seem to find a direct link for the Plus version. You can get a link from DealsWeLike.]

The Southwest credit card from Chase is now offering a 50,000 point signup bonus after spending $2,000 in the first 3 months. They advertise it as two round-trip tickets, but really the points can be used other ways too, including redeeming for $500 worth of gift cards.

There are 4 versions or this card: Personal Plus, Personal Premier, Business Plus and Business Premier. Annual fee of $69/$99 not waived the first year.

The standard on Southwest is a 25,000 point signup bonus, but it regularly goes up to 50,000. If you’ve never gotten it before, this could be an opportunity to get it, but there’ll always be another time if you prefer to wait.

Discover Signup Bonus

Direct Link

Discover is now offering a $150 signup bonus after spending $750 in the first 3 months. This offer has been there before, but it doesn’t come up often. Usually, you can get $50-$100, or possibly a $100 Amazon gift card.

Besides the signup bonus, there’s great rotating categories on the card, along with other benefits such as ShopDiscover. See our full review here.

Our Verdict

I’ve already gotten the 50,000 points on both Southwest cards within the past couple years (see List of Churnable Credit Cards), so I won’t be applying for these now.

I also signed up for the Discover card when it had a $150 bonus back in February. I’ve made good use of the rotating categories and of ShopDiscover. I’d love to get a second Discover card, but reportedly they don’t allow it.

Has there been a trend to the 50k offers? The offer seems to come and go throughout the year. Maybe you guys can dig up some historical data similar to your point about the British Airways Avios transfer?
That information may be helpful some readers to determine when to sign up.

The 50k offers are almost always available to be honest, once we do our full review of those cards we will do the sign up bonus history like we always do. The reason why it seems like the 50k offers on the southwest cards come and go is because they only have affiliate links some of the time, you can usually find a non affiliate link though.

Welcome, Joe. I’ve put the Southwest cards to the top of the list for credit card reviews, unfortunately our reviews aren’t very popular so other stuff will have to come first. But I will get around to it, I promise!
