The Fine Print

  • Valid 7/17/16–7/23/16
  • In store only
  • Limit 1 rebate per household

Our Verdict

Not the best offer, but useful for those who buy prepaids from Staples anyway to rack up INK miles. The $15 gift card should more or less offset the activation fees (it’s $13.90 in fees for two $200 cards), and you can net the free credit card points if you have an easy way of liquidating the Mastercard gift cards.

Best to use an INK card for 5x, or use an Amex card if you got the targeted Amex Offer found on some Amex business cards to get 5% back on Staples purchases of $200 or more.

What is the best thing to do with Staples Gift cards? I always do these deals so I have about 5 $15 Staples gift cards. I usually never buy things at Staples as it is overpriced.

Things I’ve bought at Staples recently: Kleenex tissues (4X160 for $4 this week, with a coupon you get back 25% in rewards on in-store purchases), a wall clock for $4 or $5, a good quality clad stock pot for a very good price. Staples.com sells a lot of stuff that has nothing to do with office supplies, like my stock pot. They have had 1-cent-after-rebate reams of paper every week for a while now, and your rebate for this is Visa gift cards, not Staples gift cards.

Staples has FAER paper basically every week… you can buy it with your gift cards and you will get Visa rewards cards for the rebate. plus you’ll have paper…

I just tried this in Huntsville, al and they did not ring up with a rebate. Has anyone else had this problem?

what do you mean “did not ring up”? the rebate prints after you pay at the end of the receipt.

if you got the receipt and it has no rebate, try to submit it anyway, 4 hours after your purchase the system will automatically tell you if you qualify or not.

you bought at least $300 worth of MC gift cards at once, yes?

yes they have a pin, its on a sheet inside the package, not the last 4 # like visa, its a trickier way to liquidate at wal-mart on serve, not worth the headache imo

can I use it to purchase a MO walmart or Krogers?

Wait, you still have a Serve card??! Please tell me how you managed that!?

IMO, these aren’t so different from the Visa version. The PIN is inside the package. And they work the same as the VGC at every place besides WM, and even there it’s doable if you hit change payment right after swiping (be quick).
