Wait a min! This is a new rebate apart from a week ago? Good times!

  2. Bob says:

I actually got a a postcard in the mail notifying me of this deal. Very interesting.

  3. ray says:

Now I just need Amex Staples offer to show up one my personal card.

  4. Dan says:

Man with all these Staples deals, and OfficeMax a few weeks ago, I’m already around 80% of max capacity for my Ink Cash. Now I’m kind of wishing I stuck with the Ink Plus instead of downgrading.

    • Jeremy says:

      You’re not the only one.

    • Matt says:

Have you looked into the Amex SimplyCash Plus card? It has twice the annual limit as the Ink Cash for 5% at office supplies, and no annual fee.

    • Jerry says:

How do you liquidate these prepaid gift cards? None of the walmarts, 7/11, USPS and CVS near my area would accept these cards anymore for MOs.

      • Dan says:

You might be in a MS-saturated area, in which case you’re out of luck. I live in a small town though and have no problems liquidating.

        • Jerry says:

Many places are literally shutting down the option of buying MOs using prepaid GCs if our name is not on the card.
You did not specified how do you liquidate these cards though.

          • Dan says:

I go to Walmart and liquidate 4 at a time by purchasing a $799.30 money order. Since I live in a small town, MS is not a “problem” here yet.

      • B says:

A quick tip. For Walmarts that give you trouble. I would do the MS as part of a $400 money order. Break the transaction to 2 cards.

One of the cards is your debit card, with your name on it. The other is the visa card. Tell the clerk you want to do 2 transactions and don’t say anything else. If asked to show the card, show the debit card. Say you want to do it on that card 2x.

When it comes to do the transaction, switch the card with the debit card. Do the $200 transaction, then the rest of the transaction on your debit card.

        • Jerry says:

Not as easy as you think. They ask for all the cards and confirm if our name is on the card or not. If we are splitting the transaction between 2 or 3 cards, then will want to see all cards, I suppose.

          • Eric says:

B wrote to tell them that you want to use the same debit card twice. Not only is that wrong as it’s lying but it’s dumb as I can’t believe most reps would fall for that.

  5. Superchurn says:

one rebate per household? well it’sa good thing i have 3 mailing addresses!

  6. Dani says:

If I did last weeks can I do this one too?

  7. Jonathan says:

    Back to back, baby!

  8. habs says:

can I submit the rebate online?

  9. TJ says:

How long does it take to get the visa gift card after the rebate status online says “validation complete”? This is from the last promotion. Still waiting on the vgc.

  10. Ed says:

It’s a trick in order to track households who already bought last week. They’re going to get you. Just kidding. And, for those having trouble liquidating at stores that require a name on card, just write your name on the card. 😉

In seriousness, a lot of locations already ran out of the 200s and are left with the high fee 100s and 50s which aren’t worth it. I’ll be shocked if the regional vendors restock that fast. Some only show up once a month.

  11. Matt says:

Can you use the pictured big print “Gift Card” cards from Staples to reload Serve at WM? My typical method is MO > WF ATM deposit, but have an old serve card lying around I want to start using. I tried the WM load with one of those “Grocery Anywhere” cards and got a denial at the register. Thanks!

  12. ray says:

Easy Rebate ID didn’t print out in digits on the Rebate Redemption Form. This never happened before.
So I have to download a barcode reader app onto my phone in order to figure out this 17-digit number. T

    • Harry says:

The numbers are also at the top of the receipt. You can figure it out:
This is what is on the first two lines:
      xxxxxxx y vwp abcde
      fghi jk/lm/no rs:tu

The full code needed for the rebate would then be:
      fghijklmnoabcdewp

      • ray says:

        Interesting.

I also realized later that the Easy Rebate ID is included in the emailed store receipt, if one associates the GC purchase with the Staples Rewards Number. Last time, the cashier didn’t ask and I forgot to enter Staples Rewards.

Went to Walmart to try to purchase a money order for the first time. The CSR was inexperienced, but the one next to her was not, and told her “debit cards” without names are gift cards, prompting her to ask to see ID and my “debit cards”. Sounds like a no-go, so I gave up immediately.

  13. Dan says:

PSA: If you don’t see these on the rack – try asking an employee to get them from stockroom.

  14. brian says:

I recently had 5 cards “heisted”. I never even opened them (or left my possession) and still some cell phone store in Cali conveniently unloaded all but $5 or so. within 2 days. Tell me their company wasn’t hacked on that one.

Still working thru “the process” to get the value back and re-assigned to me…it’s a pain in the keister and taking weeks so far.

  15. Ed says:

Some locations are out if they didn’t restock from the last promo, but if yours has some count your blessings.

  16. Robert says:

The Staples deal is not as good as it seems. Buying $300 worth of Visa cards means buying 2 cards, one $200 card their highest denomination with a cost of $6.95 and a $100 card that they charge a fee of $5.95. These fees eat away $13 of the $20 free card.

    • TJ says:

That’s the point.. getting the cards at no cost. The real value is 5x UR points or helping to meet bonus spend requirements.

    • MarcoPolo says:

Whole idea of doing this deal is for MSing purpose and/or making about $27 by using a 5% CB card.

  17. Jake says:

Considering that you can get $30 off at the register with $300 in visa gift card purchases at Safeway makes this deal suck.
