Our Verdict

I’m a bit confused by this promotion because it says 15% back in points, but then in the image it says $15. No idea what is going on there.

Many thanks for the reply and sharing your experiences Deb. I comprehend now — one purchase/order, one merchant, per week. Make it count — good counsel. I also hadn’t realized raise had been a regular participant before. (they’re not on the list this week — even as Staples is…. — which “raises” an ms idea.) Will pay attention closer to these promotions.

Raise has been particularly lucrative. I do hope they bring them back as a qualifying merchant for these weekly bonus offers. Don’t forget that you get the advertised points back rate as well as the bonus. For Raise that’s 8%.

They frequently offered $10 back on $30 with a $50 cap. Spending $150 oop at Raise for an offer like that would get you $62 in points ($50 for bonus offer, and the regular 8%). Pretty nice discount on top of an already discounted price. The best part was that I would buy kmart or sears cards for those promos. They were paying me for buying their discounted funny money. Even better when Raise offered a discount code for them.

Example-sears or kmart can usually be found for approx. 7-10%. Lets say 7% to be conservative. A $175 sears card(s) would cost $162.75 at 7% off. If Raise had an additional 3% sale that same $175 card(s) would be $157.50. Just for that one transaction you would get a $175 gift card and $62 in points (bonus offer and reg % back) for $157.50.

I’m just curious but what do you mostly buy at Kmart/Sears with all of the points you receive plus the gc you buy from Raise?

So far I’ve gotten a $1800 Electrolux induction stove, a $600 Electrolux convection microwave, 4 outdoor lazy boy recliners (clearance @ $80 ea), heavy duty craftsman tool storage for hubby, stereos and new mattresses for my kids, storage drawers for under my washer and dryer, a second glide out rack for my new oven because I love the one it came with, tools, small appliances, pet carriers, Samsung sound bar with rear speakers, Samsung tablets, yard tools (handheld and power), plus lots and lots of other smaller things.

The main thing when buying items for your own use is to price check and make sure they aren’t over priced at kmart/sears. All my large purchases were comparable in price to other stores. I will purchase over priced items depending on the amount of points back I can get. ie-the Smart Sense deal back in Jan or the school supplies deal last summer. I’ve only been using this program since Jan of 2016. I know others do much better but I’m very happy with my results.

Keep in mind you can use points at kmart/sears/lands end/ sears outlet/ and parts direct by sears. For purchases at parts direct you have to do an online chat and have the operator apply your points, you can’t do the checkout with points on your own.

Confusing indeed! And in digging down for clarity, it gets worse. At the top, we see an indication, “exclusions apply” — then we’re directed to learn of details by clicking on that link. But then we see no mention of exclusions — leading me to speculate that gift cards (say at participating merchant Staples) would work too. I’m reminded of one week last summer where they had a 30% SYW points rebate going, where partners included RAISE. (found a few delayed reports then seeming to indicate it actually worked — and on multiple gc purchases)

One wonders if Sears has let go all of their content editors. Maybe I’m dense, but I’m puzzled by verbiage like this:

“Limit one (1) offer per member.” and “Purchase requirement must be met in a single transaction.”

(So what’s the purchase requirement? And what do they mean by “one offer per member.” Is that one 15% rebate on one purchase for the entire week?)

“And in digging down for clarity, it gets worse” ??????

The only confusion is the title saying $15 back and the fine print saying 15% back, max $50. I always copy and save the fine print and I’m sure I will have no issue getting it awarded.

Raise is normally included in these weekly offers, (it wasn’t just once last summer) and only recently have they been limited to certain merchants. When Raise was included it has always worked to buy gift cards because that’s all they sell. I’ve gotten hundreds of dollars from the syw program for raise purchases.
Limit one per member means just that. They aren’t going to award it to one member who has several accounts. Now-that’s just the rules. If it’s actually enforced might be different but I do too well with them to take that risk.
Qualified purchase means exactly what it says. A purchase from the listed merchants. And yes, you will only get up to 15% back (max $50) on the first purchase made through one of the qualified merchants so make it count. I spent my $335 at Staples. I will get the full $50.

I feel like you are making the terms harder to understand than they need to be.

Hey Deb, which portal do you go through when using syw, I can never get mine to track. They have three different sites, and when I sent them an email they asked which one I started from.
http://www.shopyourway.com/topbrands, http://www.shopyourway.com/partners or http://www.syweverywhere.com?

I start with shop your way everywhere. I never had luck with the /partners site and never used /topbrands.
Now all that being told. Having points post for partner purchases is least likely to automatically post. It’s very common for me to have to email them for my points. I always copy and save the fine print from the offer, mark at what date 45 days will have past (typical terms-will post in 45 days, etc) then I email them with the info after that date. They always want a copy of my receipt, and the last 4 digits of the cc I used. <-I have found that they NEVER verify the cc used. Because sometimes I use a gc.
When providing this info I have never been denied the points. At this point I just assume I will have to ask for them. For a very long time, most of the points I earned where through these weekly partner promotions. They are great to combine with amex offers when possible. I also use them to purchase hotel points when they are already on discount.
