[Expired] [Targeted] AmEx Offer: $50 off $150 at AirBnB! (excludes gift cards)

This promotion has expired. Make sure you sign up for notifications so you don’t miss any deals.

The Offer

Check your Amex logins for the following targeted offer:

  • Get $50 back on $150+ AirBnB purchase

The Fine Print

  • Valid for bookings paid for by September 8, 2017
  • Must book $150 or more in a single booking
  • Must book directly with Airbnb online or via mobile app
  • Offer only valid for domestic and international Airbnb bookings paid using your enrolled American Express Card after enrollment and prior to 9/8/2017
  • Excludes Airbnb Meetups and gift card purchases
  • Offer not valid for bookings that are paid for before the promotion start date or after the promotion end date

Our Verdict

This isn’t the $50 off $100 bonanza from a year and a half ago which worked on gift cards and was an extra 17% off, but it’s still an excellent offer! I only found it on one Amex card so far (Biz Plat AU), hopefully you’ll have a bit more luck. You can book out into the future, just make sure to create the booking by September 8th.

Received this offer on 3/7 BCP cards and 2/4 old Clear card. Not available on any SPG or PRG cards.

Other interesting offers that popped up
– $40 off $200 at JW Marriott (someone else mentioned above)
– $40 off $200 at 1800-CONTACTS
– $100 off $500 at Hilton properties ONLY in UK

I have no plans to travel to UK but have family there. Will check w/ them if they would be interested.

Got the same offers on my BCP but to my surprise I don’t see them on mobile app, visited website and added from there. I can see them in My Offers on mobile app now.

Got two offers for PRG (M+A) cards. Interesting, I saw the offer from online banking but I didn’t add it. Later on the road I checked my mobile banking, it’s gone! I was so sad that I lost it. But When I returned home and opened the online banking again, it’s still there. Immediately added both.

I assume this stacks with the Acorns app’s found money — they currently have an offer of (up to) 1.8% of your Airbnb booking invested into your account, until September 14th.

To get the deal, you have to go into the app, tap “Book Now”, and book within 28 days.

Wonder if they actually enforce the terms.

Last time they ran the promo (end of 2015) they actually allowed GC purchase, but they didn’t configure something correctly on their side and because apparently GCs were coded differently from regular bookings the credits weren’t posting. Was rather annoying to have to ask AMEX to manually process the credit, esp. on the co-branded cards where you had to contact them via twitter.

Probably why they are excluded this time

0/3 for husband and 3/3 for me.

Anyone know how to add the same deal to multiple cards with the new AmEx website? It’s preventing me from opening different accounts in different tabs. And I’m pretty sure it’s showing the same offers for each account.

0/25 or so, as far as I can tell. Anyone else experiencing the new Amex website as a glitchy piece of dog doo?

My family wasn’t targeted for airbnb on a couple dozen cards; we are occasional airbnb users.

And, I assume, you’re not going to see an airbnb offer on a credit card sponsored by a hotel company,

What is the deal with those changes to the AMEX website? When I saw them a couple days ago, I thought it was a formatting error. Why would they do this?
