Our Verdict
I missed the last Bucks offer, but luckily this one came through for me. And at a perfect time with the Staples and gas gift card deals going on.

The biggest throttle now is that Paypal isn’t being too nice about letting us check out. Doing one gift card at a time might help.
We’ll have to keep in mind for the future to wait until a bit later in the day before resigning ourselves to the lack of bonus Bucks; in the past, these offers all started by 8 am PT/ 11 am ET the latest. This one started at 10 am PT/ 1 pm ET. They are trying to throw us off here. 🙂

Yes. So the logic behind paypal Digital Gifts is to limit people to 1 or 2 transactions per day basically. To be fair to them, look at their feedback, they are experiencing a TON of fraud. So the only real way for them to minimize fraud…. is to limit people essentially to 1 or 2 transactions a day.

Not liking the trends in Gas GC lately – most of the brands have a significant inventory ~$60-120K that built up around March per GCwiki and most or all have dropped 1-3% in resale value over the same timeframe.
This is directly attributable to the lifting of eBay gift card limits.
Resale should hover around 5 to 10% below the eBay rate because that’s a fairly standard profit margin by the big companies.
I think you’ll see them fall a little farther.
Notice that Shell, which doesn’t sell via eBay has maintained is value.

Personally I have the best luck with PPDG checking out only once per day for the max GC amount, rather than breaking it up. If I try to break it up, the 2nd transaction will never go through. My wife’s account cannot purchase any PPDG period. Luckily I was targeted and purchase of 5 Staples worked today.
I bought the staples gift cards… but didn’t see the ebay bucks offer until it was too late (was afraid they’d run out)…. at least used the ebay bucks deal on the BP cards (bought the other gas cards last week with the 10% bucks deals)>
So I tried to buy the Sears Gift Cards after purchasing the Staples one and I received the following message:
“To help protect your account, we limit the amount of items purchased by a single account at any one time.”
I’ve never received this message before. I order a fair amount from Ebay so it’s weird that I’ve hit some limit.
that is odd… i just bought both of those, it took some verification but ultimately no errors.
I just started getting this too. On ebay nearly 15 years and bought big quantities in past with no issue. Now there is a 2 item in gift card category limit per day. It’s absolute BS, especially with the bonus bucks. F*** ebay. So now we have ebay limits, and if you are lucky enough to get past those, paypal limits. Gyft for some reason blocked both myself and my wife as well so I can no longer get quick ebay GC with 5x UR.
I’ve had that happen multiple times. You should be able to purchase again tomorrow.
It’s good to know that this isn’t just me. I was concerned that maybe they though I was using too many gift cards since they removed the rolling limit.
Still a pretty ridiculous rule. Can you imagine Amazon telling people they could only place two orders a day.
I’m getting the same response after purchasing 5x Staples gift cards. Was going to pick up some regular eBay gift cards afterwards, but kept running into this error message. Logged into an alternate eBay account and was able to purchase without problem. I wonder why eBay is “protecting” my account by freezing it all of a sudden?
I got this error message as well after buying 3 of the Staples cards. Dangit. Buy a ton from eBay so not like I’m a new account or something.
So frustrating with paypal. Doc needs to write how he has no issues most of the time when dealing with PayPal checkout.

Just get them from Staples using an INK. I also use Cardcash for 5x INK whenever they have a sitewide coupon.

Is there any downside to opening a new Ebay account?
I’ve had mine since forever and NEVER get targeted for bonus bucks. I opened an account for my wife a year or so ago (to buy more gift cards when they were limited to one or two per account) and she ALWAYS gets the promos (like today’s 8%). Since ebay now seems to limit “everyone” to a couple of transactions a day, I’d like to have at least 2 accounts that are eligible for bonus bucks.
I think it’s super funny how I too have had an ebay account for about 8+ years and have not once been targeted for the extra ebay bucks. I really don’t want to open a new account either. This is pretty dumb.
