Targeted AmEx Offer: Spend $1,000 With Bottega Veneta & Get 20,000 Membership Rewards Points

The Offer

  • Get a one-time award of 20,000 Membership Rewards® points by using your enrolled Card to spend a total of $1,000+ in one or more eligible transactions in-store at Bottega Veneta or online at bottegaveneta.com/us by 11/14/2016

The Fine Print

  • Must use a card enrolled in this offer
  • Valid until November 14th, 2016

Our Verdict

Basically 20x points per $1 spent if you spend exactly $1,000. We saw the same offer on ANA recently. Obviously a pretty good offer if you have plans to spend $1,000 there, but I’d guess that doesn’t apply to most people. Sign of American Express trying to really increase the amount of spend people are putting through their cards.

I have the same question as Jake (above). How likely is it that Amex would claw back the 20k MR points if an item is returned to Bottega Veneta?

You could also buy $13 candles at $75 each to reach the $1,000 spending limit….The sweet smell of 20X MR points “may” become more bearable…

If purchase made and the item then returned, will Amex clawback bonus points or just the points for purchase? Any data points on that? Thx.
