Receive a $100 bonus when you open a Capital One 360 checking account and receive two direct deposits of $250 or more within 60 days of account opening

The Fine Print

OFFER IS STRICTLY NON-TRANSFERABLE AND ONLY AVAILABLE TO YOU (if you didn’t receive a targeted e-mail or mail out about this, you will not be eligible)
To earn the bonus, this has to be your, or your joint account holder’s (if you have one), first Checking account (this includes former Electric Orange accounts, too)
Eligible direct deposits are: your paycheck from your employer, Social Security/pension or other government benefits. Direct deposit is subject to employer or other payor options
Valid until March 31st, 2015
Bonus will be deposited within 75 days of account opening
All bank account bonuses are treated as income/interest and as such you have to pay taxes on them

Our Verdict

Capital One offers a similar bonus on Black Friday & Independence day every year, although the requirements usually do not require a direct deposit so it’s interesting to see that this promotion does. If you didn’t receive this targeted promotion, just wait until the Fourth and there should be a public bonus. Hopefully it does not require direct deposits, as that’s what makes this deal so appealing.

I haven’t added this bonus to our best banking promo lists or our complete listing of checking promos as it’s a targeted promotion.

I was targeted for the Black Friday deal but did not jump on it at the time. I signed up through https://home.capitalone360.com/lp-keepmore which it sounds like I was not targeted for, but I followed up with a phone call and the CSR honored it. He put a note in my account and told me to call back in 75 days if I do not see the $100 bonus. It sounds like this promotion is fairly new as the CSR did not trust the system that claimed that I was not targeted.

I see ACH listed for Capital One 360 in https://www.doctorofcredit.com/knowledge-base/list-methods-banks-count-direct-deposits/#Capital_One_360. Would that include Serve?

Should do, those data points are relatively old though because C0360 doesn’t usually require a direct deposit. Keep us updated and remember this is a targeted offer.

I told the rep I don`t want overdraft protection and I opted-out but they did a hard pull on my Equifax (my score dropped from 788 to 779) ; it was 2013 though, maybe they changed they policy. Even if you opt-out from over-draft protection they may turn you down if you have a low credit score. Have you checked your Equifax after applying?
