The Offer
No direct link, offers have gone out via snail mail
- Citibusiness® / Aadvantage® Platinum Select® World Mastercard® is offering 65,000 miles after $4,000 in spend within the first three months.
Card Details
- Annual fee of $95 is waived the first year
Our Verdict
Public bonus is 60,000 miles after $3,000 in spend so this is an extra 5,000 miles but requires an extra $1,000 in spend. There is also a 60,000 mile personal bonus. Downside to American Airlines is trying to find saver space. I’d still sign up for this bonus if I was eligible as it’s as good as it gets and it starts your 24 month clock as well. Before applying read these things you should know about Citibank.
Some people have even had success matching to this offer from the 60,000 mile offer. Share your datapoints regarding this in the comments below.
Hat tip to Frequent Miler
I received an email with 9 digit code for aa platinum card. Email has the 24 month language but when you go to the application page, there is no 24 month language.
Any data point of 9 digit code from email works?
Lantean: Do you still have that offer code which your not using…i’ll be very willing to utilize it if its transferable. Let me know. Thanks
I don’t know if it’s transferable, but I received TWO unique codes. Just approved for one, happy to share the other if you’d like to try.
Great. with this bonus points added to the inventory, my whole family of 4 will now travel in business class RT for upcoming trip to Asia
Can this offered be used for someone else? I received 2 mails for my friend who no longer lives in the US, with two different invitation code.
I think there are two versions – 9 digit code and 12 digit code. The 9 digit code can be used by anyone and for multiple times. Use your best judgment so that it doesn’t flag the code.
I haven’t done this myself, so someone who has done this can confirm or deny.
I have only seen Biz mailers with 9 digits, so it should be transferable. I am not sure, however, if they can be used multiple times, like the personal ones.
I tried to match to my wife’s account (she had 50k points after $3k spend, applied in March 2017), denied. May try to match to a 60k offer that I received.
Damn, worth trying for 60k!
Does it depend on the CSR you get, because I got matched to the 60k offer on the personal card earlier this year. I wonder if I should just call this time, and repeat if it doesn’t work.
Just FYI, I got a targeted mailer for 60K 2 months ago for the Business card, and successfully matched it today via SM to the 65K, even though spending was only $3K.
Sent SM for both me and my wife to match 60k to 65k and was denied for both
YMMV I guess. Sent SM and matched me to 65k while still only needing to hit the original 3k in 3 months.
I was targeted via snail mail… but still not biting. AA miles are close to worthless… i can’t travel to Asia/middle east more than once a year.
The reason I keep biting is because with AA Hotels and Cars, the points are worth 1 cent each, so at the very least it’s $650 towards hotel stays with $3K spend. Agreed though that using them on AA are very difficult.
it’s $4k spend sadly
I just looked into that redemption avenue. All the hotels I looked at that I know normal prices for were redeemable at closer to .5-.7 cpm. Be careful about this option as I don’t think it’s as efficient as you think.
If you don’t have a credit card that’s the redeemable price, if you have a credit card it’s 1 cent per point, the rates change based on you having a card attached to your account.
Care to share your offer code? 😉
I’m killing time for 5/24; this would not count against, correct? Round-trip to Europe sounds great.
Also, is Citi difficult to get a business card through?
Citi business cards don’t report to personal credit report so won’t count against 5/24.
I applied and was approved as sole proprietor using just my SSN / no tax id necessary.
Thanks!
First business card: should I use salary for business revenue? Or some other number?
Common wisdom is NOT to use regular salary.
I followed advice from FT and put $0, used SSN with sole prop. and picked other appealing categories from the lists. Approved. It may be counter-intuitive, but it is safer not to make up income that does not exist. This card is generally considered one of the easy biz cards to get, nothing like Chase.
DP: I SM’d Citi to add 5k to my 60k offer soon after the 65k personal offers started going around. Request was approved right away. Card had been open about 2 months then, with minimum spend already reached.
Is there any guideines for applying biz cards but not having any business nor intention of starting one?
@YRK.
The basics are in my post. Peruse Flyertalk for other details. The short version is that Citi does not care, just don’t lie about business revenue that does not exist.
