[Targeted] Citi ThankYou Premier 50,000 Points After $3,000 Spend

The Offer

  • Citi has sent out targeted offers for the Citi ThankYou Premier card. They are offering 50,000 points after $3,000 in spend within the first three months.

citi thankyou preferred

Card Details

  • Card earns at the following rates:
    • 3x on travel
    • 2x on dining and entertainment
    • 1x on all other purchases
  • Annual fee is waived first year

Our Verdict

This targeted bonus doesn’t seem to contain the 24 month family language either. Most people probably won’t be eligible as they’ve applied for too many Citi cards recently. This is the best bonus on this card, currently only 30,000 points when you apply in branch.

If you didn’t receive a mailer, I don’t know of any other ways to get this offer other than to check for pre-approvals, you might be able to get matched by signing up for an inferior offer but not sure if that is working or not. As always before applying make sure you read through these things everybody should know about Citi cards.

Got an upgrade offer to this card from the no-fee preferred card, no additional points but waive fee for one year, no change for card number.

Does that set the 24 months clock? I would appreciate some advice for this upgrade, thank you!

Anybody seeing any evidence of Citi enforcing 24 month rule or clawing back miles on approved apps sans 24-month rule language? I’ve seen several confirmations of awards without clawbacks but no negative stories to date. Thx

I saw a comment on Reddit, which I am currently unable to locate, in which a person described getting approved for a no-24-month 50K AA card, asked to be matched to the targeted 60K offer, and being told that he was ineligible for the 50K bonus. I do not know if this was done by SM or phone, or if the person did or did not eventually receive the 50K.

The real question here is, can people sign up for the 30K bonus and successfully get matched to this 50K despite not being targeted? If anyone is able to do this, please post. I am 6 months away from clearing the 24 month ThankYou family restriction, so I can’t do this yet myself.

Notably, the 3X points on Travel for this card includes Gas Stations, which is an advantage over the Prestige, particularly for those who are capable of manufacturing spend at “gas stations”.

I’ve had this card for a long time. But now I have a Chase Sapphire Reserve. So don’t see the point of it anymore. Except for you guys who want a bonus, I suppose.

DoC – correct me if I’m wrong but hasn’t the highest, targeted offer for this card been the 60k that leaked a year or two ago? might have been accidental or an a/b test citi was doing internally. it was pulled pretty quickly but after news broke on twitter, lots of folks got in on it. I also remember 40-50k being the standard offer a couple years ago right? just trying to judge the value of this offer all things considered.

I’m trying to understand the purpose behind these [targeted] posts.
Is it to remind people to check their mailbox?

A lot of times people don’t see promotional emails. It’s also good to have a place to clarify details and discuss, especially with more important offers.

That said, it’s certainly a balance and not all targeted offers make it to the site. Some might go out on Twitter or in the Daily Deals.

Good offer and great travel card. My go-to card for travel (will not qualify for CSR)

Used the Citi pre-approval site, and although i didn’t get targeted for Premier, my wife was targeted for 50k AA plat. This offer appears to also be missing the 24 month stipulation. Combed through terms and conditions and additional info tabs, couldn’t find it anywhere.
