Tip for Unloading Buxx

We wrote yesterday about a new option that Chime now offers to write checks using your Chime balance, see Paper Checks with Chime – Manufacture Debit Card Spend.

FrequentMiler commented there with a nice tip that I hadn’t been aware of. He notes that US Bank Buxx can be used to load your Chime card fee-free. Although gift cards don’t work on Chime and Paypal debit card has a fee, Buxx is fee-free. I tried out a Nationwide Buxx card, and it was also fee-free on Chime.

This makes unloading Buxx a whole lot easier. Obviously, with the new Checkbook option, it means that Buxx can be loaded fee-free from your computer.

But even without that, this makes Buxx easier to deal with because Chime allows $500 taken out of an ATM per day (for a $2.50 fee, besides the ATM surcharge) and it allow up to $2500 in debit purchases per day. So we can load up Chime with all of our Buxx cards. Once the balance is consolidated, we can then unload it all at once, from one card. Or use the higher ATM limits.

One thing I’ll note is that I’ve had problems using the Chime card on two occasions. The card didn’t work and I had to call in and get something reset. Resetting a card?! Whatever. I’ve seen others complain also about the card not working and having to call in. I got stuck at Walmart a couple of times in the middle of a transaction when the card wouldn’t process. After that, I just started using the ATM option more.

Anyway, with this new Checkbook option, we should be able to unload it that way.

So it’s dead now.

Thanks for the exposure, Chuck.

And by exposure I mean take a helpful blog comment that some interested readers could make use of, and draw circles and arrows around it in a dedicated blog post.
The only missing part was a photo of Emily.

I have been loading chime with buxx. 6k per month. They shut me down yetserday without warning. I called and they said it was for cash loading and offloading. (Isnt’t that the purpose of the card). I am very sad to loose this. It was so easy and all done from my desk. You can even spend it from your desk. Never had to go anywhere!! I even used the card for their deals. Very Sad.

I knew this trick for a couple of months since I hated to use two buxx cards to purchase mo and I needed $999 to pay evolve money before March. The only thing that bothers me is that I am not sure if I will be shutdown by Chime anytime soon.

Have you been sending checks to itself to cash without a problem?

@Ron, but I have a concern about the post which was not invented by the author either

William Charles – enough is enough. There is no use commenting here, tweeting or mailing you as you are not going to stop. This will be my last comment here and I am leaving this blog once and for all. Goodbye.

We disagree with what should and shouldn’t be shared. I don’t share A LOT of information that I could. We’re not always going to agree with everything. I think the chances of this being shut down are relatively slim, Chime changed their fees based on what fees they are charged. I presume they get a sufficiently low rate that processing Buxx isn’t a massive cost sink for them.

Sorry that you don’t find this site useful anymore, bye.

If this deal dies you are the sole reason for that.
