Our Verdict

I reached out to Topcashback to see if they would be willing to give our readers a special sign up bonus and they came back with this offer. To be clear we receive absolutely nothing for this post and also receive nothing if you sign up and that’s why we were able to get such a good deal.

That’s one of the reasons I love Topcashback, they put their users first like we put our readers first. They give users 100% of a store’s commission back as cash back (they make  their money through separate advertising banners and deals with our listed stores). In addition when you cash out you can also get bonuses if you cash out for something other than cash:

  • Amazon Gift Card (3% bonus)
  • American Express® Reward Card (3% bonus)
  • Gap eGiftCard (5% bonus)
  • Nike eGiftcard (5%)
  • Hotels.com eGiftcard (5%)
  • Petco eGiftcard (5%)

If you want to see more brands & websites offer our readers increased bonuses like this then there are two things you can do:

  • Sign up if you don’t have have an account
  • Share this with others

Does anyone know why I’m still showing the $20 new account bonus from this page as pending? I have $15 waiting to be cashed out from the Home Chef deal and it says if you have $10 the referral bonus should be able to be cashed out.

Are we sure this has expired? I’d love to sign up under your referral if still valid.

I have been using ebates for years and literally *just* signed up for a topcashback account 3 weeks ago because they’re the only portal who pays for thriftbooks orders. Bummer.

Just a datapoint, I recently got the 6% bonus on the AMEX gift card. However, it is DEFINITELY not worth the trouble. The card was declined several times online at different merchants and then I had to wait 5 business days for the attempted purchase to clear each time. It was a huge pain for saving 6%. As you can get 5% off Prime with other credit cards, I would only recommend getting a check or deposited into your bank account

I am also getting “Whoopsie Daisy”, error code:1677532266. I tried both Chrome and Firefox.

For those who are actually able to sign up, it looks like there is $10 cashback for signing up for a 12 week subscription of The Economist. I’m not sure how much a 12 week subscription costs, and I can’t check ebcause I’m not a TCB members. But based on other deals I’ve seen for this magazine, it probably costs $10 or $12.

So, if you don’t want to keep track of whether you’ve reached the $10 cashback or not, you could just sign up for this deal for The Economist, and it will be a $18 or $20 money maker. (Note: The subscription auto-renews, so remember to cancel.)

Also, The Economist is a really good magazine.

Just signed up without a problem using Firefox.

They are offering $12 cashback (ends in two days) on The Economist and will cost $12 for 12 weeks.

Thanks for the tip.

befrugal has worked for me so far (cashback issuance) 6-7 times for giftcards; not sure why or how some folks had issues; need to login to giftcards & befrugal first; clear any in cart at giftcards; then link the CB portal to giftcards; create an order then submit; that’s it.

it’s just too bad that cb for vgc at giftcards is now only at 1%; used to be 2 then down 1.5, and now 1

Been using Ebates and signed up for Topcash a few months ago. I’ve only used them for the GiftCards.con portal use and have had to submit tracking info each time. Not sure how other websites are treated but just sharing my personal experience with one portal pass through. To their credit, Befrugal is much worse to file for tracking for the same website, giftcards.com

just adding some additional benefits:
-highest cashback guarantee (only for a list of similar competitors ie ebates)
-giveaway games (going on right now!!) give you instant cash if you’re lucky enough to spot a birdie
-payout whenever you reach the minimum balance ($20; transaction amounts in the “payable stage”). while it’s similar to other cashback sites (wait ~90 days for cashback to be “payable”), if you reach that minimum multiple times a month you can withdraw as many times instead of waiting for it quarterly
-can deposit into paypal or ACH account (ebates now let’s you receive payment electronically as well)
————————-
wish i had had a promo code when i originally signed up months ago. TCB is pretty great – they offer highest cashback guarantee (some limitations) and the really neat thing about them is that you don’t have to wait until each quarter to request a payout (like ebates). while all cashback sites have a similar process (~3mo to get $$ confirmed for payout), TCB offers highest cashback and let’s you request payout whenever you reach the minimums (i think $20 balance and transaction is at the “payable” stage).

the really cool (and mindlessly time-wasting) thing is that TCB offers sweepstakes and giveaways (check out their facebook page). i haven’t tried the sweepstakes, but the giveaways (in feb around valentines and right now-spring) give you INSTANT CASH BACK if you’re lucky. during their giveaways time period (~4weeks long), if you visit a cashback site and see a humingbird flying across the page and click it you get a “treat.” depending on the treat, you may qualify for an entry into a sweepstakes or it can be instant cash back (most people win a few cents), but it can also be $25, $100, etc. TCB offers “clues” each day to which TCB merchant page you might see a birdie flit across your screen. and people will post which TCB merch pages to visit to get extra birdies since only 1 clue/day is provided by TCB but extras can be found on random merch pages. i’ve only won 75cents in the valentines giveaway and 75cents (so far!) for the current spring giveaway, but if you have some time to waste and will already be on TCB’s website (b/c you’ll be signing up with DoC’s referral code) you should check this out. these giveaway instant cash prizes are available/payable immediately which is pretty neat.

personally, i love ebates b/c they’re the easiest to use (ie can submit missing claims immediately and will sometimes credit your account without doing an investigation), but TCB is just as easy *and* offers a variety of other benefits. the only cashback site i would advise against is befrugal. they have the worst tracking system and do not honor cashback when their tracking system fails to log your transaction. also, you have to wait 7 days to file a claim and the customer service is nonexistent.

The only negative to TCB is their support process regarding unpaid cash back. It is rather lackluster. They are by far the slowest responders of any the major sites (Ebates, BeFrugal, Mr. Rebates, etc.) and their “nudge” system is silly. I have been waiting months for simple updates from TCB on a couple legitimate cash back claims. Very frustrating.

As a result, on any cash back where there is some doubt (like hotel reservations, because you cannot get paid until after your stay) I will go with another site that has better customer service even if the cash back percentage is lower. A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush!

haha i like the birdie reference 😉

i beg to differ as my personal experience has been the opposite WRT cashback payouts. i think befrugal has the WORST payout policy, and ebates the best (sometimes my returned items don’t reverse cashback). i haven’t tried mr. rebates – thanks for the suggestion! (and yes, the “nudge” system is silly and doesn’t work.

curious to know how many diff cashback sites you use? i’m trying to limit the number to avoid spreading myself too thin (and not ever meeting the min payout balance). i use ebates and TCB; waiting to meet the min to cashout of befrugal.
