Direct link to offer

  • Topcashback is offering 2.25% on American Express business gift cards

amex gift cards

The Fine Print

  • Today only
  • Using a Citi card will usually code as a cash advance
  • Using a coupon code will invalidate cash back
  • Denominations over $2,000 will not earn cash back

Our Verdict

Topcashback is now regularly offering 2.25% cash back on American Express gift cards, they seem to offer it about once a month so there isn’t a huge need to stock up. If you’re going to purchase these cards, make sure you have plenty of offload methods available to you in the event that one of them stops working.

Will, if I may suggest, when you report these types of % increases as deals, please note what the regular % is. In this case knowing what the the regular % of cashback is at Topcashback would help people who don’t regularly use that particular venue to decide whether this is a good promo increase or not.

Thanks for keeping u with so many deals!

TCB is normally 1.5%.

To be fair, if you don’t know the normal CB rate for Amex GCs, you’re probably not a person who even knows how to take advantage of this offer.

I have read reports (at FM and others) that Barclays also codes as a cash advance. And Citi not always now.

Myself and others have been using Barclays cards forever now without CA codings. It was only a few days a few months ago that were improperly coding as CAs. If you’re worried call you banks and set CA levels to something really low like $5. That’s what I’ve done and I’ve never gotten a CA fee since.

I’m still waiting on a claim I filed from the last 2.25%. If it takes this long to get paid, 2.25% isn’t really any different than 0%.

Agreed, I was very disappointed to learn it was for business cards. I can never get approved for those.

Hi William,

Could you kindly add “Bussiness” or “Personal/consumer” to the titles going forward. Would save us some time by not having to click through and read search for GC type.

Thanks
