Our Verdict
30,000 miles might not seem like a lot, but keep in mind that award flights are priced in KM, so this is actually a 50,000+ bonus (when you take into account the minimum spend requirement. You can find their award charts here. 50,000 would be enough for a round trip flight to:
- Peru (48,000 miles)
- Colombia (38,000 miles)
- Ecuador (48,000 miles)
They also run a distance based award program for flights run on their oneworld partners (also priced in KMs).
This card is actually a lot better value than I thought. Another use of the card is the 20% discount & 25% bonus on miles. I’ll let reddit user Thereian explain:
LAN also is the only South American airline with a South American Airpass. Technically the program expired several years ago, but the prices are the same and it was just wrapped into regular multi-destination purchases. In short, if you fly into and out of South America with LAN, your flights within South America are heavily discounted. You could fly to Cuzco (Macchu Picchu), down to Punta Arenas (Torres Del Paine), Bus over to El Calafate (Perito Morreno), fly to Buenos Aires, Fly to Sao Paulo or Rio, then fly home for under $1200 with this card, and get credited a 25% bonus on all of those miles flown.
If you’re thinking about applying for this card, remember to make sure your SageStream/ARS reports are frozen before applying as this should increase your chances of approval. Also read these things you should know about U.S. Bank.

US Bank just sent me mail saying that it’s totally discontinuing the LATAM Pass Visa, and will covert LATAM Pass Visa cards to a no-AF Go card early next year.
Isn’t US to Peru 48,000 kms not miles? Or am I misreading the award chart?
Card details you state valid until June 30th. I think you mean July 31st?
Yup, used an old post, fixed now.
I want the Korean air.
