Our Verdict

Some nice discounts if you can find saver level availability and the dates work for you. Surprised there is no landing page for the domestic discount, maybe they applied the discount prematurely.

I tried to test book a flight from chicago to shanghai in Mar -Apr during the promotion period but no discount, it still shows 70k miles + fee. Not sure what’s wrong. 🙁

Anyone have good resources for learning how to book these things? I have tons of miles but am a complete newbie with award booking. Would love to take advantage of this to go to Japan/Hong Kong/Singapore

What about Central Asia – India for example? Do only North and South Asia qualify for the discount?

Not sure if it is a coincidence, but I repriced an open-jaw I booked a few weeks ago. Now 16k instead of 20k. So I took that, and will cancel the original (no fee)

Too bad these discounts don’t apply to Star Alliance flights

Interesting. I’m not sure how United divide their regions but I’m seeing 66k in Economy from KOA-TYO while it’s 68.5k in UnitedFirst one way for November 14. The undiscounted price I believe is 31k in economy KOA-TYO.
