Many people are noticing an offer showing on Amazon to get $25 off a purchase of $150 when paying with an Amex card. Even non-Prime members see this offer.
It shows under items shipped and sold by Amazon – not FBA items (sample link), with the exception of Amazon gift cards and third-party gift cards (sample link).
When trying to use the offer by paying $150+ with an Amex card, it doesn’t actually work. The ‘See Details’ link is not working to give more info on the promo. Right now it’s only working by chatting and requesting the a manual $25 refund (YMMV, of course).
Most Slickdeals members assume that this is an upcoming promo – not yet live – which will offer $25 off $150 on most items on Amazon. This makes sense based on historical trends of Amex/Amazon offers during holiday season.
In the past, the offer has been together with ordinary Amex Offers. That was great since it resulted in the offer being applied to all items on the Amazon website. Under this upcoming deal, Amazon coded the discount into the site on items shipped and sold by Amazon, and they excluded gift cards and Amazon gift cards too.

I was trying to buy a 3DS with it. When it didn’t show that it was going to come off at Che k out I called Amazon. Amazon had me call Amex saying they would be the ones to credit back $25. Called Amex and they told me the deal didn’t exist at all in their system and that Amazon should take it down. Called Amazon again and told them what Amazon said. After much of an issue trying to get the lady to understand me, she issued me a $25 credit so I can buy the item and when I just went to look to see if the deal was still showing it wasn’t.
My Amazon app was showing “$50 off $100 with BC card” over the weekend on severalitems – but I couldn’t find any details and when I clicked on the item it didn’t have any mention.

I just got off chat with them. Was told it had to be new AMEX, but they didn’t say anything about using pay with points.
I’m skeptical. We shall see…

Must me a MR Amex card that has not been used to pay with points before.

ahh…sorry about that….thank you for pointing it out….it gave me a reason to contact amazon to get the deal.
