Our Verdict
Previously Wells Fargo had increased the bonuses to $150 on these cards. The extra $50 makes them significantly more attractive when comparing to other cards with a high cash sign up bonus. It’s no longer possible to put high spend through only the 5% categories on the first six month cards.

Hello… I signed up for the Wells Cargo credit card because of the fantastic $200 bonus for spending $1000 in the first three months. Just curious how soon that bonus will appear on my statement.

I feel like im getting the real runaround with WF. Signed up for $200 in May and spent the $1000 in early june to qualify, I called them in early august to see when I would get the bonus- they said “we dont show the bonus set up on your card- we may need proof of offer” then they later said the would add the offer if I would spend $1000 going forward- I stated i ALREADY spent the $1000. Then they said OK we will research/confirm that you spend $1000 and if so will award the bonus. Called end of august- they are still researching it. Called again today 9/26- they said it still hasnt been awarded but notes on the account say they are researching it.
Ive heard their bonuses take several months. Im just wondering if they are gonna screw me on this- what does one do if a company does not award the sign up? Im gonna give it 4 more weeks to see. They supposedly escalated it which sounds like BS the way it was stated.
My dad is targeted for only $150 for the cash wise card. The targeted offer is even lessen than the public offer $200??? What the hell!!!
I did VGC purchases that totaled to 1000+ almost 2 months ago, but in the rewards section it still says “20,000 points with $1,000 spend in the first 3 months, 40 days left”
I suppose this means VGC didn’t count towards msr, per the terms?

I’m having a hard time finding data points- can the WF cards be used to purchase VGCs? I know there are some not so good experiences with abusing the 5x bonus, but I also see the ToC for all WF cards says they won’t give any points for prepaid gift cards. Does that mean they won’t count it towards sign up bonuses as well?

VGC’s always might be technically excluded but usually work. Issue is only if there is a review of the account. In small amounts, I’d assume it won’t trigger any sort of review.

Does anybody have experience with lowering cash advance limit on Wells Fargo cards? I would like to open up either the Cash Wise or the Propel cards. But I need to make sure it doesn’t count as a cash advance when I fund $1000 into my BMO Harris account. I have read three people who have successfully funded BMO Harris accounts using Propel, but they don’t mention saying they lowered their cash advance limit. I’ve also read around that Wells Fargo does not lower cash advance limits, not sure if that’s true though.
Can somebody chime in on this topic regarding lowering cash advance limit? Thanks in advanced.

What does Wells Fargo look for in approving new customers? I’m looking at getting the Cash Wise card and I currently have 0 inquiries on all other credit reports and 3 on Experian (2 new).
Fico Score is 756. Do I have a good chance of getting approved? I don’t have a banking relationship with Wells and only really want this card for the cell phone protection..
Unfortunately for you, the inquiry hits Experian, but I can’t help you with any other info. I hadn’t had any inquiries for years and had only one when I refinanced in April (all 3 bureaus) and applied for this card in May. My scores are in the 800’s, but 756 is decent enough, I think.
I am also getting anxious waiting for the bonus. When I click on my rewards section online, it acknowledges that I have met the minimum spend, and says that I will see it in 1 to 2 billing cycles.
Hmm, that’s interesting. In the rewards section online? Could it have been perhaps on the statement after the cycle closed? Because I just got done with my 1K, but all I can see in the rewards section is this:
