Wells Fargo Propel World 40,000 Point Bonus Still Available In Branch

Update 10/2/19: Looks like this is no longer being offered, if anybody does get them to offer it let us know in the comments. For the best current credit card bonuses click here.

Some readers haven’t been able to get this offer in branch, others have had no trouble. So YMMV

Recently the Wells Fargo Propel World stop being available online (even our hidden links stopped working), I thought Wells Fargo had limited this card to only their Wells Fargo Advisor customers but reader bmanamex let me know that they recently went into a Wells Fargo branch and were asked if they wanted to sign up for a credit card. They said they were interested in the Propel World and the banker was able to pull up the 40,000 point offer.

If you don’t have this card, I would recommend getting it (just for the sign up bonus). You can read our full review of the card here, but here are the card basics:

  • Earn 40,000 bonus points with $3,000 in net purchases in the first 3 months.
  • Earn 3X points on Airlines, 2X on Hotels, and 1X on other net purchases.
  • Get up to $100 in reimbursements each year for qualifying incidental airline charges like airline lounges, baggage fees, and more
  • Annual fee of $175 is waived the first year

Points are worth 1¢ each so this bonus is worth $400 + the $100 in travel reimbursements. If you go into a Wells Fargo branch and are able to successfully get this offer, please let us know in the comments. I’ll likely add it to our best credit card bonus page due to the fact I don’t think this offer will last for ever.

William Charles Article update note needs a edit. This offer was never gone. You have to get the right rep or ask the right questions. The bonus is part of the disclosures, and reps unfamiliar with that do not see the bonus until you actually start the application.

Just called today (10/01/19). rep said the card is available (Wells Fargo Propel World), but she could not find 40,000 point bonus language, just an introductory no interest offer. Looks like this bonus is dead, at least when applying over the phone.

I am showing in the terms and conditions when googling the card that the bonus is listed under Important offer details. Might want to try again with a different rep to confirm. I cannot apply to this card until next July due to the 15 month rule.

Got this last month via phone, no issues. Anyone seen a timeline on when the bonus posts after meeting the spend?

Applied in branch. Banker knew which card I was speaking about, but could not see if there was a bonus from her screen, which was concerning to me. I guess she was expecting to see it as a preapproval under my account, maybe? Anyway, she calls HQ credit cards dept and I think they told her that it’s not a special promo or targeted offer, that it’s a regular sign-up account policy and part of the disclosures.

So, we move forward. Sure enough, the bonus information was on page 4 of the “Terms & Conditions” printout, Paragraph heading “Important offer details – 40,000 point bonus notice”. Also, Page 1 of the terms showed 0.00% intro APR for purchases and balance transfers for 12 months.

If this information was not present on the offer, you can decide not to submit the application. They do not pull your credit until the final steps, after all disclosures have been presented to you, and you sign the keypad that you agree.

DP: VA – Pulled EQ and EX. Not instant approval – awaiting decision. 800 FICO, 4/12, 12/24. 1 existing WF CC with very little spend. 1 WF savings opened today, and a freshly closed checking. In branch, expect about a 30 minute time-suck visit, I’d estimate.

Approved. Magically appeared on my WF login today, on a Sunday. $3K limit… sounds like they trust me about as much as I trust them.

I forgot to mention in original comment – intro APR 0.00% is for 12 months.

Exactly one week after application, received card and welcome packet in the mail. Activated ok online, no problem.

Also received an e-mail today, subj: Special message about your rewards account. States I have 95 days left, “Start earning your bonus points! You only have until December 10, 2019.” Fine print in e-mail confirms the 40K points for $3K spend.

When I log into Wells Fargo, I click GO FAR REWARDS on the account list, Highlight “Earn”, then click “How to Earn Faster”, the bonus tracker is present and the terms listed, 40K for $3K. Other than being difficult to find on their website, the bonus tracker is Awesome!

Called to try to open the card today. Representative was able to find the card, but couldn’t email me the terms or confirm that there is still a sign-up bonus. I didn’t continue with the application.

I did my application in branch today. The confirmation of bonus terms are within the disclosures, so you have to start an application. DoC sort of covers this in his phone application post, and in the stickied comment by a reader.

Card and offer is still live. Called on 7/1/19 and was approved after about a week. Make sure you read the emailed terms they send you while you’re still on the phone to verify that its the correct offer and not the 30,000 point offer for the new Propel card.

No dice for me over the phone today, rep told me that “Propel World” is no longer available but instead offered me the new “Propel” card with no annual fee. I may go to the branch and see if I have better luck in person

Just approved via phone.

I was stupid and chose to fight traffic to go to a local branch first. Finally got there and rep had no clue about the 40k offer, held me there for 15 minutes while she tried to find the promo, talked to her supervisor, etc., to no avail. Tried to sell me on a 30k point offer. I bailed and called the phone number. Approved in about ten minutes.

Save the trip! Let your fingers do the walking.

Can this card be downgraded after the first year ?

Wells doesn’t do true product changes, they just close your card and open a new card (new hit on credit report), so you probably don’t want to do a downgrade.

Approved lol/24, 100k+ income. 20 min phone call total. Instant approval. Rep couldn’t find card initially but when I listed the benefits she found it. Shows no bonus on their end, but like mentioned emailed T&C list 40k bonus.
