Wyndham & Total Rewards Partnership (Points Transfers Now Live)

Update: 11/17/17 you can now transfer points between the two programs. Transfer rate is 1:1 and you can transfer a maximum of 30,000 points in each direction. Hat tip to reader Jack B

Update: 9/18/17 you can now earn and redeem Wyndham points at select Caesars entertainment hotels. Hat tip to reader Celestino.

Wyndham Rewards & Total Rewards have launched a new partnership. Effective tomorrow you’ll be able to status match between the programs.

  • Wyndham Platinum = Total Rewards Platinum
  • Wyndham Diamond = Total Rewards Diamond (Total Rewards Seven Stars will also earn you Wyndham Diamond status)

Some things to note:

  • Must be 21 years old to be a Total Rewards member
  • You must complete the status match each year (just linking your accounts again).

Other Benefits Coming

There are more benefits coming from this partnership later this year. They include:

  • Transfer of points between the programs at a 1:1 rate (maximum of 30,000 points transferred in each direction)
  • You’ll be able to book Total Rewards properties for 15,000 points per night

Our Verdict

Total Rewards Diamond/Platinum status is quite valuable as it includes a complimentary trip to their Atlantis property in the Bahamas. The Total Rewards credit card also frequently offers lucrative spending bonuses so this new partnership might make that card worth picking up so you can redeem the points for Wyndham free nights. The SPG & Total Rewards partnership recently ended so this new partnership isn’t a huge surprise.

What are your thoughts of this new partnership?

Hat tip to TPG

Is the 2-night complimentary stay still valid? I checked the Total Rewards card application site and makes no mention of this benefit….just the lousy buffet pass for ONE!

Any way to use this transfer to extend Wyndham point expiration?

Is transferring points to total rewards a possible way to prevent Wyndham points from expiring? Wyndham points have a fixed expiration date while total rewards points will not expire as long as you have activity every 6 months. I would assume there is no mechanism in total rewards to track the expiration date from a Wyndham transfer.

do you think if I transfer my wyndhum points to total rewards, and than back to wyndhum the date that the points expire will change?

Just a note people. Diamond status is very good as it gives free valet parking, access to rooms that are sometimes unavailable and a yearly $100 credit towards dinner at their selected property restaurants. But everyone states access to the Diamond club. I’m not sure of Vegas BUT in AC you need to pay $10 pp to access from comp dollars no cash accepted (they want play)

Starting next year CET will require 25,000 TCs in your account to access the Diamond lounges for free. Outside of that it will require $10 in RCs (can’t use cash) to access a lounge. I assume the idea behind this is to reduce the crowding (which is always an issue at the Vegas lounges) from people who have status matched or have the Founders Card but don’t actually play/spend at CET properties.

Folks, based on everything I’ve read, just skip the Atlantis thing. Food is apparently super pricey and not that convenient to go off site for food. Plus the resort fees are no longer waived. Virtually no one has had positive reviews of that place. Check third party booking sites and you can find cheap, highly rated all inclusives in places like Cancun. Once you factor in all costs it’s probably about the same or cheaper than the Atlantis plus you won’t be in some old crappy motel quality room.

It’s not about the food but the waterpark, especially for kids. And I don’t know, but $53 a day plus $100 gambling credit and quite a few freebies make it OK in my book.

The quality of TR properties in Vegas is rather low (but yet again so are many Wyndham properties so maybe it IS a match!). Outside Caesar’s Palace the rest are pretty dismal. Even at Caesar you have huge variation between the towers: the Forum is run-down, Augustus/Octavius are amazing, and expensive. Free offers will usually be booked at the Forum.
You can always pay your room rate with reward credits (100RC=$1). So if you use 15,000 Wyndham points to book that Vegas vacation (as Go Free) make sure the room rate was higher than $150 otherwise you would get a better value transferring and paying the rate with Reward Credits.
Depending on the dates Vegas is not expensive. It’s easy to find rooms at the Venetian or the Wynn (both NOT TR properties but very nice) or less than $150/night. Of course for some nights, it’s through the roof so maybe there’s value in using Wyndham Rewards even though I doubt the rooms would be available as redemptions if rates are high.

I don’t know–on a big weekend (major boxing match, holidays) 15,000 Wyndham points on a Fri/Sat night at the Cromwell or Planet Hollywood is a pretty good deal in my opinion, as cash rates on those nights are around $300+, so there’s some good values here

you can book caesars properties on wyndhams website. However, you can not do this on the mobile app yet. so cant be used for masterpass promo yet. also note all caesars properties have a daily resort fee about $39/NIGHT

i asked cs, if they are correct. this is the response i got when i asked if the caesars properties are eligible

I received your information and regret to inform you that the Caesar’s properties are not eligible for the Masterpass promotion. These particular hotels are considered earning partners, not participating hotels

Key USABLE Benefits of Total Rewards Diamond:

1) Resort Fees are waived !!! ($32-36/night – Las Vegas hotels) Mid-week the resort fee can be higher than the “on-sale” room rate at the lower tier casinos.
2) Diamond Lounge access – nice lounge in many casinos, free booze where state allows, appetizers. Some LV and Atlantic City Lounges have a $10 charge if member doesn’t have at least 25,000 Tire Credits.
3) Free self-parking and valet parking (Almost all hotels on the LV strip now have parking charges)
4) $100 Celebration Dinner (not sure if this applies to Status Match. ANY DATA POINTS OUT THERE?)
5) Comp or deeply discounted rooms offers in the mail with very little casino play. Possibly even with no casino play for new members – no data points to confirm this.
6) Priority Line in casino restaurants and shows – handy on busy weekends.

A few points. Matched at Caesars AC.

1. The $100 Celebration Dinner works, but not immediately. We’ve learned the hard way. Give it 2 weeks to be safe.

2. Screw-ups happen. My Atlantis booking was denied because I wasn’t listed with them as Diamond (has been fixed eventually).

3. It’s not $10 co-pay to visit the lounge, it’s 10 TCs.

4. They’re very stingy with comps in AC properties in my experience. Played at Caesars twice back in December — still nothing. I’m a very low-roller, but I’ve been overwhelmed with offers from Hard Rock, Ocean, Tropicana etc. T

5. New benefit: 2 free nights in Dubai. I guess might be useful for those Emirates First junkies 🙂

i dont know how old ur kids are but it depends. the extra cost is $50/person. the standard occupancy is 2. apparently there are wristbands, but i didnt get shit. it looked to me like you just walk in honestly. if you stay there then you have access to everything. as i said, go call and ask. however, if you want to be safe, you can declare ur kids. i dont have kids so i cant say for sure but i paid $50/person for 2 extra people 4 total in a room cuz i didnt know. it didnt look like it mattered. same with any hotel.
