- Annual fee of $79 is not waived
- Complimentary Companion Coupon, One-Class Upgrade and a single-day ClubAcela® pass for access to ClubAcela, Amtrak Metropolitan LoungeSM or First class
- Card earns at the following rates:
- 3 points per $1 spent with Amtrak
- 2 points per $1 spent on all other qualifying travel purchases
- 1 point per $1 spent on all other purchases
- No foreign transaction fees
Our Verdict
Standard bonus is 20,000 points so this is an extra 10,000. Interesting that they are targeting people that used to be cardholders but aren’t anymore. People love Bank of America (myself included) due to the ability to apply for multiple cards at the same time and get the inquiries merged into a single inquiry. What is the point value of this card? About 1.6 cpp? Then I think it is a normal offer as most airline card offering 50k points with 1.6cpp
Amtrak points are worth a fixed $0.029 against Amtrak tickets.
If you ride the train, this card gets you $870 in Amtrak travel.
OTOH, Amtrak travel is not cheap, and cannot be expected to arrive on time. The trains run mainly on tracks owned by freight carriers, and stop to wait for freights to pass.
Think it’s worth applying and trying to get matched? I’ve already got 3 apps today, one Amex and two chase.
