Hum, if you’re a frequent paypal user, and you try and register for it, We’re sorry, your account is not eligible for this US promotion. Couldn’t see that coming……

It sounds like you’re guaranteed a reward if you follow the instructions, but the odds don’t add up to 100%.

I emailed to ask about the discrepancy. BTW, it’s bounceback, not bouncecheck.

The odds will depend on the number of prizes given out. So until the final tally is completed, those should only be estimates.

This was the reply I got, verbatim: It is not a guarantee that you will get a reward as soon as your register, but you will have a 50% chance of getting the $10.00 USD reward.

In other words, there’s about a 45% chance you’ll get zilch.

When I complained that the invitation said “you’ll earn” (not “you may earn”), I got a reply from someone who seems to be slightly more on the ball, or at least more literate, than the first guy, to wit: “I apologize for the confusion in the previous email. I assure you that you’ll be receiving a reward between $10-$100 USD if you’re eligible for the offer. Please ensure to register in the promotion before making the August transactions.” He then went on to reiterate the odds. Apparently, math is not a strong point among Paypal employees.
