Via McSpiffin on Reddit, U.S. Bank credit cards can now be closed down via the chat feature. Useful as some people like to signup up for a lot of their cards, especially their business cards.
Personal U.S. Bank cards are even easier to close via the Card Control feature in the online login.
As others have said, you can also close checking and savings accounts, both personal and business, via Chat. I didn’t have the option to start a chat when navigating to the Contact Us screen and selecting Checking/Savings accounts as the topic. But if you get the Chat option via any topic in the Contact Us screen, the rep you begin chatting with can transfer you to a banker via chat and you can go from there. Took less than 20 min to close three bank accounts this way (1 personal, 2 business).
Whenever the chat is available, it is always able to close credit card via chat.
Just an fyi they still do small balance waivers for $1 or less
Anybody tried to do a product change via chat?
I view this as a negative change because it means banks don’t give a fuck about your loyalty anymore. Means less retention offers.
Retention offers could be provided via chat. There is no proof that calling is in any way superior to more contemporary communication channels
Maybe this wasn’t common knowledge but it’s been available for at least couple years.
Love to hear that. I hate calling and interacting for some thing that could be easily done online so I’m glad they got with the AMEX program
Just closed a bank account via chat also a few days ago
I did it through the IVR. Made me triple confirm I really wanted to cancel, but no person/retention sales. Super quick. Surprised by the lack of pleasantries, not even a “hope you come back.”
What about a credit line increase can it be requested through chat?
Wish it can be converted to other cards also via chat !
(they were able to close bank accounts via chat)
