Our Verdict
We’ve been seeing a lot of these point offers lately, but seems like less and less people are eligible. Obviously a nice savings if you are eligible. That being said this deal might make you ineligible for future deals. If you haven’t done one of the bigger discounts recently (last few months) and are eligible it probably makes sense to wait for a bigger offer to return. This deal works on third party gift cards, but not Amazon gift cards. Samples gift cards available on Amazon:

Got a 40% off up to a $25 purchase. (Basically $10 off $25). Small, but I'll take it!
Have a 10% offer. Placed an order with 1 eligible item and 1 non-eligible item. In the past this type of orders would still take the AMEX discount code on eligible items. Today the whole order cannot use Membership Reward pts (therefore no 1 pt trick). The site even told me so on the heading as in Membership Reward pts cannot be used because one or more items are not eligible to be paid by pts. (shipped by Amazon but supplied by 3rd party - suspected from China supplier, a cell phone case).
No way to select amount of points being redeemed as of today. Seems like the points along with gift card trick is broken or disabled now!
