Amazon Reps Direct Users To Doctor Of Credit To Clarify Deal

I’m clearly biased but I like to think that this site does a great job of outlining good deals and how to complete them. Apparently Amazon customer service representatives agree, because they having been referencing and directing users to this site and our coverage of the ‘Get $30 off $60 by Using 1 Membership Rewards Point [Targeted Offer, Working If Used Before]‘.

This is probably more interesting to me than anybody else so I’ll also take this opportunity to thank all of the readers who have supported the site by using our Amazon affiliate links, it’s really appreciated and helps to keep me motivated.

Hey, I know I’m just piling on at this point, but this is as good a time as any to salute DoC for all the hard work they do, their commitment to getting things right, the coherence of their commentary, the organization of the site… I could go on and on, but suffice it to say that everything that is going on here takes intelligence, perspective, and stick-to-it-iveness. It does not go unnoticed. This isn’t just the best credit card / travel site — it’s one of the most functional things I encounter anywhere. Thanks!!

Same issue here. My letter from amazon:

I’m following up on your recent contact to our Customer Service department.

On reviewing the previous correspondence that you had with us via chat, I understand that you are concerned about the promotion “AMEX17PRIME”.

I’m really sorry that you are unable to take advantage of this promotion and I’ll let you know as to why the promotional code AMEX17PRIME didn’t apply to your account.

We occasionally offer promotional certificates to potential customers or to select existing customers, to encourage them to shop at Amazon.com.

The promotion in question of $30 through AMEX17PRIME was offered by invitation only to a limited group of customers, and is valid only for the e-mail addresses to which it was sent.

On checking using our tools, it saddens me to let you know that your Amazon.com account under this current email address is not among those targeted customers accounts for this promotion. This is the reason for the promotion not being honored and you not able to see the discount.

Unfortunately this promotion is designed in such a way that our system targets few customers account dynamically, sends those customers an email regarding the promotion and honors the promotion on those accounts only.

If in case you received an email from Amazon regarding the AMEX17PRIME promotion, I would recommend you to forward that email to us so that we can investigate further and take additional action, if required. If you received an email from Amazon regarding this app sign in promotion on another email address, I request you to try placing an order from the Amazon account associated with that email address.

We regret that we cannot extend this offer for you at the moment and I hope you understand my limitations in this regard. However since you’ve taken your time out to contact us regarding this, I’ve forwarded this situation to the concerned team so that we may target a similar promotion to you in the future.

Also, our marketing team regularly introduces new promotion on hundreds of thousands of items on our website. Hence, I’d kindly request you to keep looking for those promotions and make the most out of them.

I love DoC and the content they provide. I have been helped in saving lot of money using their posts. Because I like your site so much, I feel its important to play devil’s advocate here.

IMO, this rep didn’t do their job properly. The rep should have cited only Amazon’s own articles/links and not 3rd party blogs. This is not an endorsement from Amazon, but a lazy rep copy pasting one of the top links from Google search (DoC easily tops any related search).

If I were the supervisor of the rep and read through the chat later, I would have a stern discussion with the rep.

A far fetched thought, but maybe it is also time to rethink how to address posts that highlight Amazon tricks.

DoC is great even without this incident.
