The Offer

  • American Express is currently waiving the shipping fees on their gift cards when you use the promotional code RUSH16 (personal gift cards) or FSHIPW16 (business gift cards). This includes expedited shipping (3-5 business days, $8.95) and rush shipping (2-4 business days, $15.95). Purchase fees are not waived.

The Fine Print

  • RUSH16 code is valid until December 20th, 2016
  • FSHIPW16 code is valid until January 31st, 2017

Our Verdict

You can also get $10 back when you spend $200 on these gift cards with this public American Express offer. Shopping portals (Topcashback & Simply Best Coupons) are offering 1.5% cash back as well on denominations under $200, but the coupon code isn’t listed there so it might not work. If it does work, you’d be making $9.05 profit per card (plus credit card rewards), if it doesn’t you’d make a straight $6.05.

This is a good deal since shipping is what usually kills your profit margins on American Express gift cards—the purchase fee of $3.95 is a 0.79% fee on a $500 gift card and a 0.13% fee on a $3000 gift card. The main problem is unloading American Express gift cards.

  • dumb Q... but do these count as min spending for Co-branded amex cards (delta)? obviously wont do this on a Amex Plat.

    • There is an easy way around this, call the customer service and tell them you don't accept the terms and conditions, therefore they will suggest to send you a check instead of the amount of your card. Do this once perhaps on your high amount of AGC, so in one call you get your money instead of calling them so often, you probably can do this once ;)

  • Topcashback works with the free shipping code published on its own website. I used the published free shipping code and got $3.00 cash back. Not sure if this code works. Saved $9.05 totally!

  • Codes for free shipping has always been available. It was a better deal when Amex Giftcards were giving free shipping automatically two weeks ago, and you could use a fee free code to get gift cards at their face values.
