Our Verdict
I found this on  all my Amex business cards and AUs. This offer amounts to around 21.5% off which is better than previous offers which were 20% off ($50 off $250).
Also, remember that most Amex business cards are eligible for OPEN benefits which is a choice of either 5% statement credit or 2x points (if it’s a new card, make sure to choose before ordering so it doesn’t default to the 2x).
You can buy gift cards or e-gift cards to trigger the Amex Offer, but it isn’t easy to make money reselling these unless you have a private rate. Portals don’t work anymore for gift card purchases.
In any case, it’s a great deal for electronics purchases. Buy gift cards to save on purchases larger than $350.
Confirming that TCB pays 2% cashback on the purchase of HP’s eGC.
Can I use the portal or do I have to use the /amex page?
You can use portal. I don’t think that Amex page requirement is ever enforced. System just sees charge and triggers credit.
I bought 1 $250 HP GC and 1 $100 HP GC, both for resale through a GC exchange. Amex Offer confirmation email showed up in my inbox right away. I used eBates, which is tracking my payout at 8%. I think there’s a 50/50 chance the CB payout will get clawed back, though.
If anyone here tries using a shopping portal for CB/points to stack savings with this Amex Offer, please upload your DPs to the Frequent Miler Laboratory so that others can learn from your failures or successes.
From memory it has gotten clawed back in the past.
+1 I think it used to work, but recently it’s always clawed back. Hope to be proven wrong!
It did work in the past on everything. However, it stopped working several months ago. Hoping it works again!
Fyi HP does call you sometime after for order verification so don’t ignore it.
While this sounds good, I can’t find anything on hp.com where this lowers the price to below Amazon’s. I only looked at laptops, though.
My thoughts exactly. Haven’t bought anything from HP since 2001 when I pretty much switch to purchasing electronics from amazon and others.
