Our Verdict
Best current resale rates are 82.5% according to Giftcardwiki. According to the FM lab going through a portal doesn’t work for gift card purchases and they are specifically excluded on Topcashback and other portals, it still doesn’t hurt to try.
If you sold $350 in gift cards for the 82.5% rate you’d make ~$13.75 profit per card, plus whatever you’d normally earn in credit cards rewards points. I expect resale rates to drop and drop quickly, so keep that in mind. Others will be able to make a lot more profit due to higher bulk resale rates.

Is anyone else having trouble with these GCs? I sold a $300 eGC back in april to Raise, and just received an email saying the card has been reported “closed by brand” and I will be getting a charge back. Spent 20min on the phone with Saks. They said there is an error, and maybe I will get a refund in 14 days?! This is going to be a time suck. Hoping the other 3 dont come back to haunt me…
I had the same issue with ~10 of 14 cards I sold on Raise. I called and they said it should be fine since I had already provided proof of purchase during the listing process. They said it would be cleared up in 7-10 business days, but that time has passed and I haven’t heard anything.
Hey Sheri – I’m still dealing with this issue, how did it resolve for you?
So I used this offer on two cards and yet only received one credit. I’ve been using amex offers for a long time and I can’t recall this kind of problem with being issued. Usually it’s set it and forget it. I’ve triple checked that the offer is added to both cards.
4/21 purchase – posted 4/22
4/22 purchase – never posted and still shows as available on my amex offers page
Anyone else experiencing issues with this saks offer and the statement credit?
Yes. Similar. I did one transaction as a trial and waited a few days, it posted fine. I then did a couple more after the first posted and got confirmation emails for those. Then I did yet a few more. 8 Total and only 3 credits have posted so far. A few of them sent the “Congratulations” emails several days after the transaction which is quite unusual as well – but even these with the late confirmation have not posted the credit.
That said, I still suspect it will post. I will wait at least this week before trying to chat. I know if you ask they just give you the boiler plate statement that it can take up to x days, blah.
I’m having a problem with some of offers (from Nike) posting in timely manner (now 4 days). On most of my cards, my primary card got the instant post, but the spouses card did not get the instant post. However, both cards had added the offer and I don’t see anything precluding it. Here’s to hoping Nike posts correctly quickly before I continue adding Saks every other day!

There are reports of people not getting congrats email and thus no credit. Possible that Amex silently started enforcing one offer per cardholder rule that they never enforced but was always in fine print. Hopefully I am wrong but it’s definitely concerning
I wouldn’t be concerned unless a week has already gone by from when the charges post. That email doesn’t always come.
I can second my personal experience regarding the issue “no email no credit”. We did the Carrabba Italian Grill with 6 of my husband cards last week. Only three cards got the email confirmation and those were the three that got credit. I myself just did another offer with Puritan Pride and I did not get the email either. Note that I did with only for the Puritan offer.
Same here. Bought 6 saks gift cards in store at two registers (3 each) on April 26. I only got 3 congrats emails several hours later that night around 4am (usually email arrives very soon), and I only got credits for those 3 cards so far. Offer is still showing available on the other 3 cards.
Yeah, will have to wait and see.
I’ve previously had Amex offer credits not post. In one case (Verizon), a chat rep started the process of manually giving me the credit. And they started that process just one week after the charge posted. In another case (Carrabbas), the chat rep said I had to wait the entire 90 day period before they would open an investigation/manually credit it. I did eventually get it done, but it was a PIA to have to remember to do that after 3 months.
Now, my policy is that I won’t do any GC reselling utilizing Amex offers if I’m a) going to cancel that Amex within the next 3 months or b) don’t want to float whatever the cost of the Amex offer is.
This has been the biggest pain in the neck Amex Offer. The Saks website is awful and a huge security risk, but I finally got two different order to go through. Took two days to receive eGC on the first order and six days on the second including multiple calls to Saks. I didn’t receive Amex emails on either purchase and today Amex told me via chat that while the charges have posted they have not been claimed by the merchant yet (whatever that means) and to contact the merchant and have them claim the transaction.
I bought physical gift cards and sold them to CardPool. After receiving them, CardPool promptly told me they decided to reject the purchase and return my cards. Seems a little shady. Maybe they figured out they bought too many or something? I did verify the gift card values before I sent them in. Quoting from their email “we’re not able to disclose any further specifics regarding this process”. Anyone else dealt with this before?
Pretty common issue people have Cardpool or any of the other standard exchanges. Security stuff. Bummer.
Probably due to the influx of cards and wanting to purchase at lower rates. Very shady by CardPool and not a good way to build trust with users.
I purcahsed a 200 and 150 gc to total 350. I’m actually planning on using the gift cards. But my question is did you guys get a response from AMEX that your offer was redeemed via email? Usually those notifications come fast, but I have not seen it come through.
Finally received the eGC’s. Listed them on Raise today and they sold in a few minutes. I am a little nervous though after reading that people have had trouble with raise, months after a sell.
I have 2 more (physical) gift cards coming. Is there a more reliable platform to resell these?
I bit off a little too much bonus spend with 2 SPG biz cards and was looking for an easy spend. Not going this route again. What a pain.
Where did you read about the trouble with Raise?
I will have To go back and try and find the post. Since I placed the Saks GC orders, I have been reading several forums. I am a bit of a newbie with MS options, so I was reading everything I could find. My typical sources are Doc, Reddit and flyertalk though.
Wait… so the cards you received went from full value to no value?
That would cause major issues with reselling and could cause you to be blacklisted. Wow.
This offer is too good to be true. I would stay far away until they get there act together.
Last December when Amex had the similar offer when you spend $450 at Saks and get $100 credit. I placed 4 different $450 GC orders between my cards and my husband’s cards. Since they did not have a single $450 at that time, I had to buy $200 and $250 cards. All four orders had problem when the $200 cards were not activated. Called them multiple times and got them fixed for three orders during Christmas time. One $200 card never got fixed and I also realized that they did not charge my credit cards for all four orders. I decided to go to the Sak store to buy $450 GCs on those four credit cards to make sure that the charge would come through so I could take advantage of the offer. I was expecting them to charge my credit cards later for the previous online orders and I jjust kept checking my cards. I sold all GCs to cardpool and last month I got chargeback from Cardpool for the four $450 GCs that I bought instore because the card balances are zero. Yep Saks decided to drain the card balances that were legitimately bought instore. Why don’t they just charge my credit cards for the orders that did not go through online? It was not my fault when their system was completely messed up.
Wow. So this is an ongoing issue they have with their gift card processing system. That really sucks what happened to you.
I took heed and cancelled my 2nd order I placed. The little I was getting out of this deal is not worth the headache.
Same problem as others with my one and only egift order. Also place one order for physical cards on 4/17 and received today. They were good when I got them but were zeroed out by this evening. Been trying to get through to Saks for 20 minutes and counting (higher than normal call volume so it says). Total pain in the back side.
Btw, does anyone know if I will be able to use this Amex Offer again now that the pending charge will be returned. Amex already marked it as a redeemed offer.
or am I out of luck?
