It wasn’t out of my way because I had to drive by the other staples to get to my liquidation point (Stop&Shop). The girl at the second store didn’t split tender so I had to buy 3-$200 GCs over 4 card but oh well!

I agree with your rationale here. I know many look at the fact that you’re losing value but we have to factor in our time here, which can also be very valuable.

In the event that you’re told no to splitting a transaction you have to ask yourself if coming back at a later time or going to a new store is worth the additional $5 per $200 card. It’s obviously YMMV but with a busy household here and having a 1 year old little girl to chase around my time is precious and I have and will shave off monetary value for the more important time needed to maintain a quality of life/balance and other duties required to keep things running smoothly around here.

I agree. Spoken like a true father!! Any time with your daughter is precious. And we do need to realize that their are more important matters. Beside at value or profit. Over thinking can lose you more in the long run. I didn’t get this deal like in my other comment I have drill weekend so as you know duty comes to help a Marine secure the U.S. Then I’m a mother of 3 with so many responsibilities. And I’m only 23. Yay life . Maybe I’m just young but honestly I can’t help but think this offer went very fast I hope whom ever x how many did this actually think of others that do this. To not end all this for others maybe their was less enrollment a slot wonder why that happen.Eh who knows can’t question or care. At the same time happy for all. Just think cause we all want to inform each other and give insight. Which we all are thankful for. and Anythony sir, I truly adore how you had to state you have to chase your daughter so cute. Lol it made me laugh. You defiantly a father.

Luckily I was awake late last night, thanks DOC! I synced to my 4 amex cards. Went into staples today to buy 2-$200 Visa cards and the manager said they won’t allow split tender on those due to “fraud”. I offered up the cards and my ID to no avail. I’m in route to another Staples to try again! Anyone else run into this before?

Split tender is YMMV at each particular store. Why don’t you just buy the $100 cards and pay with a different Amex card each. Yes you will end up paying $5 more for 2 cards but saves you the headache of going to different stores. But then again, $10 might be worth it to you for your 4 cards to look around but not enough for me to bother with the time and gas not to mention if the other store(s) have $200 cards.

I purposely signed in early today as I had a feeling there would be another deal after I missed out on yesterday’s Office Depot deal. Of course this one maxed out even earlier.

This didn’t seem to make it on to the Amex Offers website. How did anyone find out this existed? And yes, bummer that I missed out, but I sleep 2 to 4 AM 🙂

This did make it on the Amex Offers online. I signed up for it on every single card via Amex.com. I just happened to check DOC before I went to bed and saw this post and right after I added the last card around 2:40AM CST, the deal was dead.

Office Depot deal was Meh.

I purposely didn’t sign up for it while I could.

You can buy stamps at Office Depot — not a moneymaker, but the could have saved you money (assuming you use regular mail).

What about buying Visa gc? That’s a MM. I wish I saw the offer in time to sign up.

Office depot was almost the same deal. $10 off $50 is equal percentage wise to $20 off of $100.

Wait, so this deal was dead before 4 a.m.? Say Doc, you got a scam going with these deal folks to have them all dead before anybody who doesn’t follow you wakes up? *tic
