Nice try covid. I'll get back to traveling when this virus is near gone.
New York is the midpoint for the Acela route. The current daily death rate in New York state is about 10 persons per day, and has been steady at that level since July. It peaked at a thousand deaths per day in mid-April. That's a 100-fold decrement. When would you consider it to be near gone?
You do realize the reason COVID death rates are down, is because the number of people traveling and mingling is down also? It's cause and effect....COVID didn't suddenly become not contagious. It's not spreading because people aren't mingling like pre-COVID.
If the guy doesn't want to travel, then so be it. If you want to travel by train, thats your own decision likewise.
Ummm... in New York State, where Acela runs through, the COVID daily death rate has been a stable 8 - 10 deaths a day... down from nearly a 1000/day in April peak, I would call that 100 fold decrement near gone?

Boston, Mass not much different: https://covid19.healthdata.org/united-states-of-america/massachusetts?view=daily-deaths&tab=trend
What are you trying to argue? The reason death rates are reduced is because people aren't traveling and mingling as much as before, not because COVID has mutated into a harmless cold. If people weren't taking precautions, history would just repeat itself. Biology is predictable.
There is no argument. Look at the decrement in death chart. Has the media highlighted this? How about Sweden? Explain that? US leaders and news avoid that topic.
The virus has not mutated and weakened? Most viruses do. Biology and SEASONAL viral curves are predictable, correct.
Did you look at the NY mobility chart? Mobility has moved up 40% since the death peak in April, but deaths are still down. There are other factors beyond human intervention here.
My point is, the virus and the 100 trillion microbes in your body will never be "near gone." But one can boost their immune system to prevent infections, fear and travel paralysis.
People need to start looking at the data and think for themselves if they value freedom.
is a shame that the acela routes are so limited. only travels between:
Boston New Haven New York Philadelphia Wilmington Washington
Yes. I think that's how Biden traveled to DC daily. And the only profitable route for Amtrak :p.
Choo choo! Sounds like fun!
Amtrak is a drain on the economy. They haven't turned a profit in years. Shut them down for good.
Actually the entire Northeast Corridor of Amtrack *subsidizes* the rest of the country.
Amtrak is profitable in the northeast.
It is the rest of the country that are freeloaders!
It provides "almost of its operating profits"

McDonald, plz go.
The federal government spends upwards of $50 billion on the highways and roads. Those haven't turned a profit ever. Shut them down for good.
edit: I can't read lol.
