Our Verdict
This is a regular offer and one of the best offered for REDcard, previous offers can be viewed here. Sometimes we see $50 off, but that requires $100 in spend. Sometimes you can also get $4 via Swagbucks as well but not currently available. There is no hard pull for the debit card or reloadable card.
It seems Target now allows opening the card again every 180 days. If you closed out an old card and it’s been more than 180 days since opening the previous card, they should approve you for a new one. (Previously it was every 90 days.)
DP. The reloadable card is not churnable.
Applied for card and approved on 3/6/24. As of today, 3/20/24, I still haven’t received the Target Reloadable card in the mail. Anyone else having this issue?
I think I opened mine as well on 3/6 and I just received my card in mail 3/23
In the past,I always had free shipping on my $40+-40 redcard debitcard coupon target.com orders and paid less than $1 on a Target giftcard for the amount over $40. Now, I am charged $5.99 shipping. IS ANONE HAVING THE SAME? If I pay the $0.54 amount over $50, will I get free shipping?
on Apri 7, 2024, are there going to be more changes together free shipping?
PICKUP AND DELIVERY ARE not options for me.
TIA for experience, ideas, suggestions, help
Can you buy multiple items that amount to $50+ or does it need to be a single item that is $50+ ?
Should be a single charge of $50 or more, for as many items as you want, as long as none of them are on the exclusion list (if talking about the debit card). AdoptaPetInstead
Thanks for mentioning the exclusion list. I’ll look through that. I finally signed up for both the debit card and the regular reload card. So one $50 coupon (physical which I believe will show up in my circle once added). Then the spend $50 to get a $50 credit on the reload card – does this offer also land into the circle offers on the app?
The Reloadable has nothing to do with the Circle offers. They don’t give anything with the card or in the online access showing there is even a promotion going on. Nothing to scan, just swipe your Reloadable card in-store or use it online. Also do take into consideration that when you pay with the Reloadable, you get 5% off too…
Ah I see, so the physical $50 coupon associated with the debit card you can add into your digital circle offers.
Then the reloadable card you spend $50 and get the $50 credit added, correct?
Correct, to both.
Thanks Gadget! You are always so helpful 🙂
Anyway free way to get free shipping if my cart after -50 debitcard coupon is less than 35? Would I get free shiipping if I actvate my debitcard? if not, if I use it pay for my under $35 cart total?
I don’t know. I don’t use the shipping option and rather pickup at the store.
One of the few times you venture out of the house for a $50 Target run instead of a $100 MS run. 😜
The RedCard DEBIT card at least gives free shipping on some times even if total is less than $35, provided said items are charged to the debit card. Others require $35 minimum even with the debit card.
For anyone wondering, to use the activate the $50 coupon for the debit card you have to add the card to the app then click the Discover tab and then “See you circle+ offers”. I had trouble finding it as it wasn’t in my Wallet tab like the coupon instructions suggested.
So for the reloadable, it’s completely fail-proof if you buy any type of 50$ giftcard as long as it’s one 50$ transaction? I don’t see any language against giftcards in the reloadable terms like in the debit’s.
Also, are there more churnable (or one-time only) deals like this from other stores that are of comparable savings (like 50-100%), like other major stores everyone can find something in (or get giftcards)?
Apparently, ANY $50+ transaction is fine for the reloadable… but churning it in 2024 is just about dead. The card can be opened again, but they don’t pay out. Only seen one recent Reloadable churn work, and they hadn’t had a Reloadable since early 2023 when they last churned it.
If you find any similar offers at other stores, please let us know. Some people like to sing the praises of Walmart vs Target prices, but I don’t recall WM ever doing $50 off $50, $40 off $40. Sears used to do some SYW sales before they closed almost all their stores… LOL
Amazon offers of 30-40% off when using Amex points (or similar) and only on Amazon.com sold goods is the only thing that comes close AFAIK. Not sure if GC purchases are allowed.
eGift card purchases have been allowed on the Amazon.com deals in the past. I have purchased Lowes, Five Guys (two $15-gift cards for $0.01 each using Citi), Taco Bell (also two $15-gift cards for $5.00 each using Discover), and other gift cards using one point, a few cents or a few dollars, and getting $10-20 off so that the card is practically free.

If I remember correctly, I had to search for just egift cards (not plastic cards) and stores/restaurants for which you could purchase an egift card of $15 or less (many have a minimum of $25).
Yeah, I am not a fan of GC’s so I didn’t pay attention. They sit around and then drive the spend… I prefer to have the choice to spend. And if I sell them, I only get ~80%.
2/6 closed debit card
2/7 applied for debit card: received rejection by mail citing already existing account. I confirmed that my previous debit card had indeed been closed.
~2/20 re-applied: received rejection by mail with different reason: “Our records show that the checking account info provided is already attached to an existing Target Debit Card account”
3/10 re-applied using a different linked bank account, will hear in 7-10 days
Need to know your last successful debit OPENING date… then add 181+ days.
I opened my Target Red Card Debit over a year ago. If I would close it today, how long should I wait before I reapply?
I would give it a few business days after closing. If that doesn’t work, I would wait until April. But, there is nothing in writing so it’s a guessing game.
Doesn’t look like there are any repeated/churned reloadable DPs with the deposit/credit scheme yet
Debit approved (182 days since last opened).
I am still waiting for $50 credit for my reloadable opened Dec 10 (purchase made on Dec 30).
Also waiting from Dec 10
SG You not going to receive your $50 dollars if it been more than 30 days since your made your purchase
Only a select few received it, probably before once per lifetime terms came into effect.
Best is to file a complaint.
If you haven’t received it by now, call the Redcard line and tell them you met the spend requirement. The first rep will verify this or screw up and try and tell you it wasn’t met. Either way, you need to get transferred to a second rep. The second rep who may be slightly better will then confirm all of this again. This second rep has the authority to give you a one time credit or escalate your situation. At least that’s how it worked out for me last time. I had to do that for 3 players. This is only for the reloadable. Funny note about one of the calls. The rep believed the requirement was to spend exactly $50. Since I spent $51.43, she said I did not qualify for the credit. I’m not kidding. After discussing it with another colleague, she finally understood the requirement and gave me the credit. This is just a sample of what you can expect when calling the Redcard line.
meathead They are saying people must spend BEFORE the end of December 31, 2023 to be eligible.
Recard line- you mean the reloadable phone number?
The current reloadable offer says spend $50 within 45 days of registration. I don’t see any date in the offer. Customer service will make up some rules, which is why you may need to be persistent. I believe this is for the reloadable redcard line, 1-833-840-4332.
