Our Verdict

JetBlue points are worth between 0.97¢ & 1.89¢ and award flight prices are tied to the cash rate. That makes this bonus worth $388 & $756 in JetBlue/Hawaiian flights, just keep in mind you are paying a $99 annual fee. This is the highest sign up bonus we’ve seen on this card, normally it’s only 30,000 points after $1,000 in spend. You can also currently earn 3x JetBlue points on all Amazon purchases and JetBlue frequently has flights on sale that we post about. There are rumors that they plan to enter the transatlantic market based on changes to their Airbus orders. I think this is a pretty good sign up bonus if JetBlue services your local area/airport, I will be adding this to our list of the best credit card sign up bonuses.

As always if you have any questions I’d recommend reading our review of this card here and also everything you should know about Barclaycard credit cards here. For example if you’ve recently applied for this card under the 30,000 point bonus you can ask for a match, but they usually don’t match bonuses. At the moment there isn’t an increased bonus on the Business version of this card, but if there is we will create a new post.

I was offered the Barclays JetBlue card in flight and was lured by the 40,000 points as well as free baggage. After using the card for 2 months, I asked about the 40k points and was told I did not have that card, How can that be when it was the only offer I received in-flight and I handed in my application during the same flight. Seems like a bait and switch. They may now lose my business on principal alone, not to mention that their website had been down at least 6 times that i tried to review my account.

Can you clarify qualifying mosaic statement from JB website please: You can qualify for TrueBlue Mosaic
by flying 30 segments plus 12,000 base flight points within a calendar year
or earning 15,000 base flight points within a calendar year.

Mutliple DP’s when it comes to this great card.

1. If you get both the Personal and Business cards, the point redemption rebate is stacked, meaning you get 20% back on all point redemptions.

2. I qualified for Mosaic with my JetBlue Business Plus and received the 15,000 Mosaic Qualification Bonus. ThePointsGuy said that cardholders were ineligible for the bonus, but clearly that’s not the case.

3. Mosaic members get 9 points per dollar spent on JetBlue flights. On top of that, card members get 6 points. This means you get 15 points per dollar spent! If you have both cards, the 20% rebate effectively makes it 18 points per dollar spent!

4. Mosaic does not include guaranteed upgrades as a perk, but I’ve flied 10 times and have always gotten a free upgrade when I asked for it. JetBlue gives you 200 points just for flying in an EVS, so effectively, I’ve gotten 200 additional points every time I fly.

DP: Applied for both the JB Plus and Business today 09/11/17, seconds apart. Got the “pending” page on the Plus, and the “need additional info” page on the Biz. Later approved for both: see below.

Called personal recon immediately. Had to answer several questions about income, and I got the impression that it was due to the fact that I work in arts and entertainment, with the expectation that I earn my income non-traditionally (this is true). I got that impression from the questions asked. The rep was very chill; it wasn’t the third degree.

Personal rep asked to move some credit line from my no-fee Arrival card, then approved me. Looked over my business card app, told me he believes I should be approved for x amount on that, and that he would tell the fraud rep as much when he transferred me to them. Fraud rep quickly confirmed my identity, then approved me for the biz card for the previously stated amount.

Nearly forgot to request the expedited card. Fraud rep made sure my personal would be expedited, but said I would need to speak to the biz department to expedite that card. I declined; I’m happy to get my personal in a couple days. Legitimately expanding my personal business next year, love JB, and live by an active hub, so thrilled about that card as well. After a recent, unpleasant chat on the Chase recon line for the Ink Preferred (stupidly thought that a Sep. 1, 2015 account would have fallen off by now, making me 4/24), it was nice to deal with the upbeat Barclays reps.

Also completely forgot to confirm the bonuses on each card. Anyone think those might have been lost in the confirmation calls?

Hello! I have an in process DP and question!

My application for the 40k bonus went pending and then the online status checker made it seem like I was denied (745 on TU, so I was confused). I called in and they said it’s just pending and I need to send in some identification verification documents to a PO box for them to verify it’s really me. I feel like I still have a good shot at approval, but I know it can take a couple of weeks now since they have to find my letter and verify the documents.

Just wanted to ask if this is normal for Barclay or if anyone has gone through this with them before! It’s my first time applying to Barclay, so it’s probably why they’re being cautious.

Just was approved, but after an unusually long review of my “pending” application. Talked to 4 separate reps, each asking for ever-more detailed security questions. Took 28 minutes. Never experienced so much concern about security before. In similar previous calls, it was all done in less than 10 minutes.

I’ve never had to send identity verification proof with any bank (at least not if I haven’t failed those ridiculous questions like “you applied for XYZ credit card – which year did you apply? 2011, 2013, 2015, 2017 – the answer is often all of them, lol)

I signed up for the 30k offer and was approved for the card under the 30k offer. After seeing this offer just 2 days after I was approved and just received the card in the mail. I had previously called asking to see if they matched the offer and was told no.

I called the next day after receiving my card but prior to activating my card asking to match the offer since it was just 1 week since I signed up. I was told no again, so I threatened to cancel and was transferred to the cancellations department.

After 10 minutes of being placed on hold they apologized and told me that THEY WILL HONOR THE 40K bonus as she did not realize that they have policy to match any offers they put out for 30 days after signing. wow.

Moral of the story, persistence.

Another DP “thanks” to customer retention that affects my plans to earn another sign-up bonus.

When BarclayCard first launched the JetBlue cards, I signed up for the PLUS first and then the REGULAR MC on the same day, minutes apart. I got the PLUS but was denied the REGULAR because BarclayCard said you could only have ONE card in a particular family. I was still relatively new to the game, so I took this at face-value and figured it was the way that BarclayCard did business.

Although the https://www.doctorofcredit.com/things-you-should-know-about-barclaycard/ article doesn’t expressly confirm or deny this particular scenario, an Account Specialist in customer retention today, told me a couple of things:
1. If I downgraded my current JB PLUS MC to a regular JB MC, I would be eligible to apply for a fresh new JB PLUS MC in the future and wouldn’t be auto-declined due to some “ONE card per CC family” rule BUT
A. I “probably (his word)” would not be eligible for a sign-up bonus on the new PLUS MC IF I still hold a regular JB MC personal card
B. I “probably (his word)” would not be eligible for a sign-up bonus IF 6 months hasn’t gone by since I was an account-holder (normal T&C language)

So because I asked the Account Specialist about downgrading my PLUS card, and since his answer threw off my plans to get another sign-up bonus on a NEW Plus card, he offered and I accepted both:
1. Half-price annual fee refund as a statement credit from when my AF hit back in April
2. Spend $1k in 90 days and receive 5k JB points.

I guess the real question is how much does the word “probably” play into BarclayCards systems when determining sign-up bonus eligibility if you hold a LOWER level JB card.

So I’m going to be the DP that I want to see since I also hold the JB Business MC and can get my pending 10% rebate through that card instead. The only variable that I can’t eliminate is the 6-month timeframe, since I’m downgrading today and this 40k offer is set to expire on 1/31/18 which is only 5.5 months away. Plus I won’t be able to report back my DP until 1/31/18.

We didn’t discuss the business card at all. But I sure like the consumer PLUS card better than the Business version just because of the consumer World Elite MC benefits as opposed to the somewhat lacking Business MC benefits. So hopefully a 40k Business offer pops up because I’d much rather churn the Business card and continue to hold the consumer PLUS card.

Sorry that was long-winded. Lots to tell.

Can Jetblue points be used to book award flights for people other than the account owner? Thanks.

Yes. Most airlines allow you to use your miles to book flights for whomever you want. JetBlue included.

Has the Jet Blue Business Card also increased the signup bonus to 40,000?

1 additional DP in regards to the 10% points redemption rebate. I booked an award flight, the one I mentioned above on 5/2/17. I still have yet to receive my 10% rebate as of 8/13/17.

I’m going to call up and check what’s up with my rebate. I hope they don’t realize their goof and claw back the points and somehow screw up my award booking.

Ok DP, called JetBlue about the 10% rebate.

Even though the wording says “10% of your points back every time you redeem to use toward your next redemption,” (within 4-6 weeks) apparently the 10% rebate points will only be credited back to your account AFTER you take the award flight. Since I booked a Thanksgiving flight on 5/2/17, I have to wait until after Thanksgiving to get the 10% rebate points apparently.

The wording of how the 10% rebate SHOULD work seems to fly in the face of how it works in reality. Come Thanksgiving I’ll be checking my account to see if the 10% rebate posts.

Can confirm. I had this same discussion with Jetblue who told me the terms on the card offer are incorrect, and that points are only refunded after the flight is taken. They said that they would change the terms on their end so that Barclays does not publish the incorrect information.
