Our Verdict
Normally the sign up bonus on the annual fee card is 30,000 points after first purchase and 15,000 points after first purchase on the no annual fee card. These aren’t the highest sign up bonuses offered, when the new Wyndham loyalty program was launched (with all hotels a fixed rate of 15,000 points per night) the no annual fee card came with 30,000 points and the annual fee card had an anniversary bonus of 15,000 points.
I don’t think the no annual fee card is worth considering at all (you can always downgrade to this later). When the annual fee card came with the 15,000 anniversary points, I thought it was a strong deal as the annual fee of $69 would cover a free nights stay at any Wyndham property. I no longer think that this card is worth holding long term with only a paltry 6,000 anniversary points (meaning you’re paying well over 1¢ per point).
It could be worth getting for the sign up bonus alone, Wyndham has some nice properties (read our list of the best properties they have here). But I wouldn’t be doing that unless I had a specific redemption in mind. You can read our full in depth review of these cards here.
Another thing to consider is the fact that Barclaycard has been pushing out some interesting promotions to cardholders:
- Two Targeted Barclaycard Promotions: 10,000 Wyndham Bonus Points + $10 From Sallie Mae
- Earn 3x Wyndham Points On Purchases Under $25 Until December 31st
Apologies, I can’t remember where I first saw this deal
I signed up for this card when I stumbled on teh post about it being 15,000 points for the annual renew. I did not notice I did not get that deal until the card arrived and I read over the paper work. I sent them a message thru Barclay website but they will not honor it. Has anyone had any luck arguing and winning this?

yes, I did see that article when I was searching for info on this deal. Just thought I would ask if anyone found a way to get it. At least I still received the 45,000 thanks to you link. : )
What about signing up for the $69 annual fee, making the spend, getting the 45k and then downgrading to the 0 annual fee?
Do they claw back the 15k?
Do they credit back the $69?
Anyone with any experience?
My problem is I did sign up for the $69 card. Made all the requirements and they are saying I am not due the final 15000 points. I’ve been fighting them for weeks. No one can even tell me the dates of the promotion.Really annoying!
I signed up when the offer was totaling 45000 points and I thought 15000 annual renewal. Now they are not honoring the final 15000 points. i signed up online and there is no documentation I possess to show I got that deal. Do you know of anyway to obtain verification? Is there a way to find when certain deals expired so that I can compare them to my start date? Thanks for any help.
$7.5K MS = 15K pts. That’s under $60 buying GC’s @ the mall. Good deal for the right hotel.
But that same $7,500 spent could get you $150 cashback with a 2% card. And Wyndham has 15% off corporate codes galore, plus topcashback. So this right hotel you speak of would have to cost $160 and up.
I am using 15K Wyndham points to book a Paris hotel mid-summer that is over $500/night. Great value!
Yup, there is some really great value out there, that’s for sure!
-$60 on the 2% card due to the GC fees which leaves you $90. There are loads of Wyndham’s well over $160 ….. just sayin’
I know there are, my personally preference is just not to stay at chain hotels and I rarely spend more than $100 on a room. I also tend to aggressively take promotions like the recent masterpass orbitz promo and airbnb promo.
I’m not saying MSing for Wyndham points is a bad idea, it’s just not for everybody.
Like stvr says, you need to look at your opportunity cost. You could have used a 2% card and earned $150 cash back. Personally I’d prefer the $150 cash back, I can easily stack discounts to turn that into a $180-$200 hotel room at any hotel rather than being restricted to Wyndham.
If you have a redemption in mind, it can be awesome value. Problem is for me I’d rarely if ever want to spend $150 cash on a hotel room and that’s basically what you’re doing.
Your description in-post mentioned the old 15k anniversary bonus, fyi.
I think yearly bonus is 6k
The link you offer is 6k/yr and the fine print you put up there is 15k… Needs correction or you do see 15k/yr offer still alive?
Needs correction, copied and past and forgot to change.
Do you know the churn rules for Barclay? I have this Wyndham card already, but I’d be interested in getting another…

Any chance of this churning within the same year?
