Our Verdict

This app/company has some very bad reviews, so use at your own risk.  People have reported a lot of issues, with the app and getting what is promised in the past, I’d recommend reading through this Slickdeal threads (1, 2, 3). More up to date thoughts from readers can also be found in previous Benjamin app posts. I really don’t like the fact you need to wait until October 15th, 2017 – November 1st for the gift cards to arrive. I don’t see why there should be such a big delay in posting the gift cards.

If something is too good to be true, it probably is. Only you can decide if this is worth the risk or not, but I’m sitting this one out.

Just received an email from the CEO of Benjamin. Essentially, they’re apologizing for the egregious delays and expect to issue the GCs starting Jan 18th. Just started a chargeback a couple days ago which I’ll probably stick with

These guys are criminals. I have been in contact with andrew over multiple modes of communication for months and eventually he just stopped responding (while giving other friends who ordered new…and fake/unmet deadlines for delivery).

Their game: they are waiting for the 60 (95? I got two different numbers from Amex) day mark after which they have no legal obligation to keep the records of the transition – and so Amex has no recourse to get further details of the investigation.

I have 3 pages written up (with another 4 pages of emails attached) with a virtually airtight case – and after 6-8 weeks of investigating, Amex is basically throwing their hands up and saying there isn’t really anything they can do…and suggesting I look at legal options or go through BBB. Unbelievable and makes me want to cancel my card immediately, I’ll sleep on that and possibly see what they do over next 6-8 weeks, though.

Incredibly frustrating. If you all have had any luck elsewhere, I’d love to hear about it.

I’d really like to shut this company down, unbelievable that they think they can do this to customers in this day and age.

It took many threatening emails over the course of 4 or 5 months but I got them to send me $1500 to settle. Hot tip – their corporate registration was lapsed at the time of the sale. I’m not your lawyer but my understanding of Texas law is that this means they were a partnership and personally liable for the cash. This threat seemed to be a strong motivator in getting them to pay up (along with the fact that I cc’d everyone involved with the company on my emails, otherwise Andrew would almost never reply).

I’ve been sending email every day to both Andrew Chapin (CEO) and the support box with no reply for 3 weeks. They’ve eventually come through in the past but I’ve never not received a reply. Seems like this guy Andrew is a scam artist.

No response to any support emails. My bank tried to contact them as well and told me their number seems to be not in service. Filed a chargeback.

Any DP on people actually receiving these? I got the response mentioned above on 11/2, but I’ve emailed every week since with no response.

I have not received the codes yet either and the support email are now just ending my e-mails right back at me (probably deactivated). It’s starting to smell like a grab and dash. I suggest everyone do a charge back immediately, write to DOJ, and confront the CEO, Andrew J. Chapin, in his twitter channel @andrewjchapin and his partners. He looks like he is trying to start other businesses, it’s in the public interest to stop this guy before he Madoff’s more people.

Unfortunately I closed the credit card I used to order these. I’m guessing I lost my ability to get a refund / do a chargeback?

Talk to them.
Does not hurt to push them. If you have other accounts with that issuing bank – you might have even better leverage
