Best Posts Last Week: $55 Off $60 On Amazon, $500 Nationwide Checking/Savings Bonus & Worrying Chase Survey

Last week was a huge week, partly due to Amazon Prime day. A big thanks to all the readers who supported the site by using our links and also by submitting deals. We’re seeking feedback on our coverage so we can improve for the next big sale event. It’s also still possible to get $55 off $60 on Amazon, so check out that deal if you haven’t already. Now onto our normal weekly recap.

Chase has sent out a worrying survey about possible changes to transferring Chase UR points for 1.5¢ travel redemption. This is obviously horrible news, fingers crossed they don’t make any of these purposed changes but best to transfer your points to CSR if you haven’t already. Chase has also started switching some business accounts to the new interface, this should allow you to check for selected for you offers. Citi has made the 50,000 point Premier offer publicly available, the 60,000 mile offers on the American Airline cards are also still available.

American Express has a 75,000 point business Platinum offer with no lifetime language, unfortunately it’s highly targeted. They also brought back the corporate advantage program with no lifetime rule on personal cards. Thankfully they also fixed the glitch for business platinum cards that were grandfathered but not receiving 50% rebates. U.S. Bank also confirmed the FlexPerks changes making the points worth 1.5¢ (down from a maximum of 2¢).

Another good week for bank account bonuses. Capital One has a nationwide $300 checking & $200 savings bonus, it does have targeted language but in the past this has not been enforced. Popular Community Bank has a bonus of up to $500 for those in south FL, NY & NJ unfortunately they seem to be ChexSystems sensitive for online openings. You can view a full list of all the bonuses we added below.

It was a great week for deals, a lot of them have expired now that Prime Day is over, it looks like you might be able to get 3x JetBlue points on Amazon gift card purchases again.  There are still lots of American Express sync offers. Such as spend $50 at Walmart, get $10 back (our tips on getting gift card purchases to go through here) Jet.com is spend $125 and get $25 back, best buy is spend $300 & get $30 back and last but not least is Marriott with spend $150 get $30 back.

Drop seems to be dead or at least much less useful now that they have added new terms excluding MS, repeat transactions and business spend. Chuck put together a great piece on purchasing gift cards at a discount

Catchy: 🙂

“Drop (seems to be) Dead.”

Sorry, I’m still sore over the Amazon’s Prime Day gift card promos…. all eight of the ones that I tried that miserable time-wasting day…. were dead within the first SECOND. (Reps I called during the day suddenly all had bad english, couldn’t help, were “sorry”…. yada, yada, yada.) Yes, beating a bush…. but hope ya’ll won’t forget that for next time. Amazon deserves some serious public feedback on that…. which they didn’t get.
