Chase Freedom Q2 2020 5% Categories: Grocery Stores, Gym Membership, Fitness Clubs (Streaming Services Added)

Update 3/31/20: Streaming services also added for this quarter.

(Update 3/15/20: Now available for activation.)

Chase has released the 5% category on the Freedom card for the second quarter of 2020:

  • Grocery stores
  • Gym membership
  • Fitness clubs

Grocery stores is obviously an easy category for a lot of people. Even if you can’t max it out with buying regular groceries, you can always buy a few gift cards to places like Amazon or Visa to finish it off. The other categories are more niche, but can be useful to some.

These aren’t yet showing publicly, but Chase released the information to affiliates, apparently. (tip of the hat to OMAAT)

Discover will have Gas Stations, Uber, Lyft & Wholesale Clubs for the Q2 2020 5% category. Citi Dividend will have Drug Stores and Amazon.

Not all versions of the Freedom 5% calendar are showing the change. I used the new activation link for grins and giggles. It acted as if a fresh actuation.

Glad to see a nod to the fact gym/fitness was basically useless. Streaming- quite useful!

Streaming services is useless. Loaded my account with netflix gift cards the last time it worked on MR deal at amazon.

Congrats. Just because something isn’t useful for you doesn’t make it useless for the next guy.

Instacart and Shipt are included in Grocery Store list.
So if I order from Warehouse clubs/ Walmart / Target using these delivery services, will that be eligible for 5% cashback?

Ah man, just went and changed all my streaming services off of the Freedom – but definitely happy to switch back for that sweet sweet 5%

Looks like streaming services will continue to earn 5% during Q2.

Can I get 5% reward for social distancing?

Normally, it’s easy to max out the grocery category with VGCs. But for the foreseeable future, I am going to be minimizing trips to the store.

You won’t be going to the grocery store three times in a quarter? Pick up a $500 and use it to pay taxes. Heck, with the July 15 deadline get your money back faster.

I’ll take “places we won’t be allowed to go to except for emergencies in Q2” for $2000, Alex.
