[Expired] Chase Hyatt 40,000 Points + $50 + 5,000 Points

Bonus has expired, view the best current credit card bonuses here.

I’m reposting this because there is a referral offer for 40,000 points and I want people to be aware of this better offer. Note if you have somebody you know referring you that offer might be better as they also receive 10,000 points (they could give you $50 or more to make up for the difference in offers).

Reposting as offer is available again (h/t to /r/churning). Try using the direct link below (and read the warning) better is to just do a dummy booking and follow these steps:

  • Search for any hotel on Hyatt.com
  • Select any room
  • On final payment screen the offer will appear, click that link

The Offer

Direct link to offer (Note that this might redirect you to the 40,000 offer without the $50 statement credit after clicking apply now, so becareful. Better to do a dummy booking to get the offer to show)

  • Chase Hyatt is offering the following bonus:
    • 40,000 points after $2,000 in spend within the first three months of account opening
    • $50 statement credit after your first purchase
    • 5,000 points after adding an authorized user and them making their first purchase (not specifically mentioned on sign up bonus, but this applies to all Chase Hyatt cards)

Card Details

Our Verdict

40,000 points is the new standard bonus on this card, replacing the two free night offer. We have seen a targeted offer of 50,000 points in the past, but that was likely just testing for trying a points based offer. Hyatt’s award chart looks like this:

hyatt award chartAlso keep in mind that once a year they have been offering a rebate on points for Hyatt cardholders. This year it was a 10% rebate (2016 was 10% also2015 was 20%). Hyatt points also do not expire as long as you’ve had some points earning activity within a 24 month period. This is one of the better offers on Chase credit cards that are not subjected to the 5/24 rule. As always please read through this list of things everybody should know about Chase credit cards before applying or asking questions in the comments (as they have likely already been answered in more detail). I’ll be adding this card to our list of the best credit card bonuses.

I have the new 60,000 referral links available for the CHASE Hyatt credit card. Email me your first name at [edited] and put “CHASE HYATT REFERRAL” in the title.

Looks like the 40k + 50SC is now replaced by 30k + 150SC. TBH, I think both are pretty decent offers, depending whether or not you have a redemption in mind and/or want to hoard the points, versus want to just have the card for a bit of extra status when your employer is paying for stays.

Whereas 10k for 100$ is a questionable substitute, I think I’d rather take 150SC than 10k even for Hyatt, especially if I don’t have a redemption in mind, and my points are close to expiration soon unless I get some activity on the account.

Together, 150SC + 30k of Hyatt points is a very enticing offer, TBH.

Today on 5/5/2018, the dummy booking only shows the 40k offer without the $50. Your link still works, showing the 50$ offer on hyatt dot com itself, but trying to APPLY NOW results in an Offer Unavailable page. So, it looks like the offer is no longer available at this time.

Yeah that offer has been dead for a little bit now.

But the current offer of 40k plus 5k for adding an AU is still available it’s actually a pretty good offer I’m stretching it to at least 6 Free Nights.

You can apply through a referral link to give someone a nice referral bonus it’s the same sign up bonus you’d get otherwise.

I applied and got approved for this card but even though I applied through the dummy booking they do not want to give me the 50$ statement credit I am in the process of fighting it out with them…

Same as you. They SM’d me that it is only for people who book a hotel at the time of applying as listed in their ‘offer details’. I SM’d them back with the offer details pasted into the message and asked to clarify where that language is because I don’t see it written anywhere. It’s a little bait and switch on their part.

Wow, same here. Have had a few back and forth SMs and at first it seemed like they weren’t even on the same page with what offer I was talking about. Called now and just got deferred saying Marketing team has the ultimate decision and will get back via mail….

Yeah they gave me the runaround and played dumb. I’m gonna call their executive office at (877) 658-5560 and file a complaint with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. This is false advertising.

Correct me if Im wrong, but you can book a hotel with hotel with hyatt then cancel it later. Most of the reservations are free cancellations within 30 days

Any datapoints on how long after the $2k spend is met (and that statement closes) the 40k bonus points post? I know the fine print says 6-8 weeks, but I’m curious if I can expect it sooner as I’ve met the spend and the statement closed about 2 weeks ago, but no bonus yet.

So I’m at 4/24. If I get this card will it count as 5/24? I want to get the Ink eventually but not ready for the $5k spend… Thanks so much, I love your site

Yes, since it’s a personal card it will count toward 5/24. I would apply for Ink first (assuming you can make the spend work), as Chase business cards do NOT count toward 5/24. “This card doesn’t fall under 5/24” refers to the fact that if you are over 5/24, you could still apply for and get the card, not that it won’t count toward 5/24. Hope that makes sense!
