Chase IHG Transfers Are Counting Towards Elite Status

Chase Ultimate Rewards points can be transferred to IHG, generally nobody completes these transfers as the rate is 1:1 and Ultimate Rewards points are considered more valuable than IHG points. No Mas Coach is reporting that these transfers are counting towards elite status. Personally I don’t think having IHG elite status is very valuable so I don’t think this is actually worth doing, but I guess if your near an elite tier then it might make sense to do a small transfer. I also suspect that this isn’t intentional, so don’t be surprised if this is changed.

Points from transfers have been counting towards elite status. Transferred some points back in 2017.

That is incorrect. It stopped a long time ago.

Obviously not incorrect, since the post that No Mas Coach did shows that it works……..

Spire Elite is good for 2 reasons: you get a free 25K points when you achieve it, so 75K UR = 100K IHG (if this deal holds up), AND: it’s great for status-matching. SPG/Marriott is probably better though.

but it’s a terrible value for your UR. better to cash out at 1cpp.

Not sure why they wouldn’t want to do this, it’s not like their elite status is anything really great and they already give away Platinum Elite status with the credit card. The best thing to come from Platinum Elite for me was the match to Wyndham, then to Caesars Diamond.
