(Expired) Chase Marriott Bonvoy Boundless FIVE Free Night Certificates (Up To 50,000 Points Each) Bonus

Update 7/20/22: Sites with affiliate links are reporting that this will end tomorrow (7/21/22 at 7AM ET)

Update 6/5/22: There was some worry that these free night certificates couldn’t be topped up with points but FM has confirmed with Marriott that that was leftover language from a previous promotion.

Update 6/2/22: Deal is back and now even better as you can top up certificates with points.

Our Verdict

Previously the best bonus was 100,000 points. This obviously has less flexibility but the fact that you get five certificates makes this offer significantly better (worth up to 250,000 points if you use it all on properties costing 50,000 points per night).  There also doesn’t seem to be any weird restrictions on when/where the free nights can be used, as long as the property costs 50,000 points or less it should be valid.  Keep in mind that the certificates are only valid for 12 months, that could be an issue with the current uncertainty and COVID-19. Most people won’t be eligible due to the 5/24 rule and from having previous Marriott/SPG cards (see above under card details). Normally I don’t think Marriott cards are worth burning a 5/24 spot for, but this offer is so good that I do think it’s worth it and will be adding this to our best credit card bonus page.

I just got off the phone with Chase. They said this offer for 250,000 points never existed.. I met my spending requirement and paid my balance.. This was a scam by Chase .. they screwed us all

the offer should be 5 certificates worth 250,000 points, not 250,000 points.

Just call back, but mention 5 certificates offer up to 50,000 points each, not the points. And eventually you will get a more knowledgeable person. If you have screenshots of your application with the bonus mentioned it may be helpful. If not at least use the screenshot from the post.
If you applied from the proper page they will give it to you.. eventually. Just keep trying.

P.S. did you have this or any other Marriott card in the recent past (2 years)? Or do you carry any other Marriott card right now? Just in case check your bonus eligibility.

I have met the spending requirement for a week, but still did not see free night certificates posted to my Marriott account. I see people say the certificates will post in a few days once meet the requirement. I wonder what is the range of “a few days”? I am hoping to use the certificates in 2 weeks….

Fwiw, my certificates showed up in my account a week or 2 after hitting the threshold, not 2 days.

Thank you Tom! I just received my certificates today 9/20. So it also took me 1~2 weeks to get it.

Anyone knows if I can find the tracker to the sign-up bonus for this marriot card under my chase account?
In addition, I don’t remember I receive email from Chase that mentions the bonus.

Thanks.

06/14/2022: P2 applied for this offer
09/07/2022: Statements closes, met spend some time between this past weekend.
09/08/2022: 5 FNC posted to P2 Marriott account.

I actually needed these certificates for October of next year and have tried to contact both Marriott and Chase and they won’t bug on extending them an extra month. Does anyone have had any luck and what was your timeline on getting FNC extended. Thank you!

Never hurts to ask, but it is very unlikely especially a year in advance, when expiration date is not around the corner.
Saw some reports of courtesy extensions, but usually that would happen right before the expiration (so you may not want to risk it), and extending 1 is a no guarantee, but 5…
So, unfortunately, I would recommend using them for something else, and get the needed points for your October 2023 trip some other way.

Update: Marriott said no. And Chase will not speak on our behalf either. So yes, will be moving our trip a few weeks earlier in order to use these certificates. After that, I am done with Marriott. Point redemptions are awful in Europe, 50k FNC for properties with cash prices of $200 🙁

@wunibaldtax you just got $1k worth of hotels on a $95 (and I can usually get way better redemptions even on 35k FNCs). It’s not great but it’s still pretty good. So yeah you will be done with Marriott until the next promotion in 2 years when you are eligible again.

I see people saying they got their certificates a few days after meeting the spend. Are most people getting them that quickly? I thought Chase usually didn’t give bonuses until after the next statement closed.

Fellow Peter wondering this, too. I hit my $5,000 in spend a couple weeks ago. The 10,000 points posted to my Marriott account but still no certs. I called chase and they said to wait up to 8 weeks… but I’d really like to use these sooner!

VL
VL (@guest_1439256)

Do not want to be pessimistic, but if the certs have not posted within a few days after meeting the spend, that could be a sign of a problem. Unlike the bonus points, which post after the statement closes, the certs usually post very quickly after the spend is completed (regardless of the statement closing date).
… and if something went wrong, waiting 8 weeks most likely is not going to change anything, but Chase will hide behind this 8 week rule, and will not open a ticket to fix the issue until then.
Good luck.

I just called Chase customer service and got a confirmation I’ve reached my $5K spending upon my statement closed on Sept 4 but it will take 4-8 weeks to have the 5 free night certificates to be posted….:(

All I am saying that I have 2 DPs personally, and a couple of DPs from friends, when the certs posted within a few days of meeting the MSR, in the middle of the billing cycle. Back in 2020, I actually wanted them to post later (due to all the uncertainty with pandemic), and intentionally completed the spend after the cycle closed hoping for another month of certificate expiration extension, and they posted in a couple of days.

I just got off the phone with a follow up call to Chase and was told this offer does not exist. Not sure how I get the credit card, spend the $5000 dollars and now am told I won’t get the 5 free nights.

I’m hoping this doesn’t happen to me – I just realized I never even got an email about applying for the card and nothing shows as reward tracker, etc in the app. I met the spend about 3 weeks ago but nothing is in my account

In the previous round of this offer back in October 2020, the certs posted to Marriott account within a few days of meeting the spend.. not like points, which post when the statement closes… not sure if it is too early to call Chase, but a call may be needed.

Question about topping up certificates. I receive my 5 nights certs but the app states:

“Awards must be used for point nights equal to or less than the award maximum and just not expire before the dates of your stay. You may use points to book additional nights.”

If I try to book a 57k night room it says my free night awards are not eligible for this stay? How can I top up the certificate??

Do you have 7K points in your account? You should see an option to add points to your cert if you have the points. Even if you do not, you should see an option to buy those points (which is not the best option, but still should be available).

I actually ended up getting on the website and it was possible that way. Not sure why the app said differently. Thanks for the response!

Oh yes! That makes sense. Previously you could not even book the night with certs on the app. So I am not surpirsed that top off feature is not available there. Definitely available on the website in a browser. Glad it worked.

Appreciate a quick help. I just got my first statement for chase mariott bonvoy card with a couple thousand points. I don’t know where to find marriott account info. I don’t have a marriott account before opening this card and I thought the marriott account info will be on the statement. Can’t find it. I appreciate any pointers. Thanks in advance.

I found it. For Future reference – Marriott account number can be retrieved from here, using email associated with your chase credit card.

I met this bonus on 7/19 and received my certificates on 7/22. This offer would have been a lot better if it were the 250k points instead of 5 50k certificates. At least then you can combine the points with the buy 5 nights get one night free offer

Most liekly a glitch. I would call them to double check on it. And make sure you did spend enough (not counting the annual fee and returns)
