All Three Chase Southwest Cards At 50,000 Points – Good Opportunity For Companion Pass

Why We Care

The Chase Southwest cards are almost always at 50,000 points (in fact the business premier card was recently up to 60,000 points). One of the great things about these cards is that the points count towards the Southwest companion pass. If you earn 110,000 Southwest points or fly 110 qualifying segments in a calendar year then a companion can travel with you for free until the end of the following calendar year. That last bit is important, the earlier in the calendar year you earn it, the longer you’ll be able to have a companion fly for free (e.g if I earned 110,000 points tomorrow my companion pass would be valid until December 31st 2017). Because of this I thought it’d be an opportune time to look at how to earn 50,000 points on all three of the Chase Southwest cards.

The Offers

The spending requirement for all three offers is the same, you need to spend $2,000 within three months of account opening and you’ll receive 50,000 Southwest points.

Chase Southwest Personal Plus Card

This card is always the hardest to get the 50,000 points on, most likely due to the fact it has an annual fee of $69 instead of $99. There is no direct link to this offer so you’ll need to use a referral link (person referring you will receive 5,000 points). You can find people willing to give you one of these in the comments of this post (and please consider using somebodies, as referral points also count towards companion passes) or in this Flyertalk thread.

Chase Southwest Personal Premier Card

There are two ways to get this offer, keep in mind the annual fee of $99 is not waived on either:

Chase Southwest Business Premier Card

As far as I know there aren’t any referrals for this card. The annual fee of $99 is not waived either. You can use this direct link though instead.

Referral Tip

Sending a referral e-mail takes forever, no idea why it’s not instant in this day and age. But you can still find your direct link by following these instructions by Dem Flyers.

Our Verdict

Now is one of the best times of the year to get the companion pass (I know some people like to sign up in December and then do their spending in January, but I’m too nervous something would go wrong for that) and it’s good to see all three offers at 50,000 points. As mentioned earlier, there was a 60,000 offer on the business card last year so it might be worth holding out for that (or getting the two personal cards now to get the companion pass and hoping for the 60,000 point offer to top up your points).

If you want to learn more about the Southwest companion pass, I’d strongly recommending our thorough guide on it found here.

I have referrals for both the Southwest Plus and Premier cards. 50,000 point sign up bonus on both cards after meeting minimum spend. This is an easy way to earn one of the most valuable airline perks out there, the Southwest Companion Pass. Perfect time for it too. Get it now and meet the minimum spending after your Dec statement ends and the points will be credited in 2017. This will allow you to have the pass for nearly 2 years.

Here is the link for the Southwest Plus:

And this is the link for the Southwest Premier:

Thanks

I have referrals for both the Southwest Plus and the Southwest Premier card. Both of these come with a 50,000 point sign up bonus after hitting the $2000 minimum spend. This is an easy way to get the Southwest companion pass and after hitting the minimum spend on both cards you will have 104,000 of the 110,000 points needed. The current offer at Southwest is 40,000 points per card. Without the referral you would be missing out on an additional 20,000 points which will make it that much harder to get the companion pass.

Here is the link for the Southwest Plus:

And this is the link for the Southwest Premier:

https://applynow.chase.com/FlexAppWe…MSC=1526260153

Yes I will get a referral bonus if you use my link. If you time it out right and have the points post to your account in January, you can have the companion pass for nearly 2 years. If you like to travel on the cheap, there is no better way to do it.

Thanks
