Chase United Cardholders Have Increased Availability To Business Saver Awards

Dans Deals has found that Chase United cardholders seemingly have increased availability to business saver awards. Normally cardholders only have access to increased economy saver awards and business is limited to 1k, Platinum & Global service members.

I don’t expect this to last so it’s not something you should apply for a card based on, but if you’re an existing member it might be worth doing some searches to see what you can find.

  • I don’t know about increased availability but I noticed you get a 10% discount to pay 80K vs 88k on LX flights between uS and ZRH.

  • I’m sure they’re eyeing the Delta model where status matters less and less while cardholders become more important. Almost a sharing of benefits.

  • Not sure but I do have the business united explorer card and I just redeemed 2 round trip first class (777-200 flat bed on both legs) to and from Maui for 49,700 miles (for the economy portion) + $3200 cash upgrade to first class for all 4 flights for us both combined. If booking cash separately it was $8800 for the similar fully refundable first class tickets. Chat gpt says this is unicorn territory redemption at 11.2 CPP on the united miles, just waiting to hear from the Doc if he agrees.

    • it would help if u actually explained ur routing and wat u did. looks like everything was under 1 PNR? but u only redeemed miles for the OGG segment? and paid cash for Y domestic positioning flight? im really confused wat u did. upgrading award redemption w/ cash is not easy but looks like u got offered the option?

    • How can you upgrade a reward flight with cash? I was told before that this was not possible with United.

  • Was able to upgrade my flight from EWR to SEA from economy to first class for just an additional 10,000 miles. Not bad.

      • No AF, keeper. 0% APR. Occasionally, 5x on gas, groceries, and dining chase offers. Downgrade option. It used to have the expanded awards too.

        • It has 10% discount on partner US-EU at 80K. I just discovered it last week on casual checking.

      • I have a Gateway Card because I downgraded it from an Explorer, and I keep it because it has no fee and holding it and a United Business Card gets me the annual 5000 mile bonus.

  • As I commented on that post: it's not new. This has existed for several months, offering 80k biz awards to Europe rather than 88k for the general public, and has been reported in pricing analysis at various websites.

    • 88K is the saver level for partners TATL, 80K on UA metal. No difference in price for cardholders or otherwise

      • I saw Swissair at 80K. It showed 88K was crossed and 80K sown instead. Header said 10% discount for UA cardholder and ours are downgraded to Gateway 2 years by now.

    • That's a discount though that you're referring to, not an increase in saver award availability.

    • ya seems to have been around since i've had a united card.. about a month. Nothing crazy good deal wise for me.
