This may be a stupid question, but looking to get clarification on the open/close in last 24 months. I have a AA card still open from when I opened it 3 years ago. Can I apply again and get the bonus while have the original still open?

If -4 doesn’t come back, I’ll be shuttering Premier halfway thru the first year.

Neighbor called and was denied bonus today on premier card because he had prestige card wi 24 months. They enforced rule on any ty card. This may be worse than thoght

I can confirm, after speaking with several managers in the SD office, that they are denying a bonus on a second TY product if you have had ANY TY product opened or closed in the past 18 (now 24) months. This was not in the terms when I signed up for a TY Premier card in February (having signed for for a Prestige card last August), and they are STILL denying the bonus points. Next stop class action/CFPB?

Is opening a second Prestige or Premier card to get another bonus likely to lead to an account shutdown?

Does converting a couple of card to another product count as closing a card? So if you product changed a prestige to a premier could you apply for another prestige 24 months after opening the first one?

A product change counts as closing the account for purposes of resetting the bonus clock.

Honestly, this is fine. I far prefer 24 months over Amex’s one time only and Chase’s 5/24 rule.

exactly. there are many sweet things that are “once in a lifetime”, but I don’t think any Amex offer is comparable to those.

Wording seems to imply that getting the bonus is based on the date the card is opened or closed, *not* the date at which the bonus was last received? Big difference I think since many folks keep the card open to retain credit age.

Wow! That is more extreme than Chase with the “or closed” language. Closing (maybe downgrading) all 5 of my Citi AAdv cards to reset the clock. Wonder if Chase will follow suit with the “or closed?” See you in 24 months?
